How do I shut off fuel system?

I am doing a spark plug change soon and might as well do a compression test while they are out, would like to know how to shut off the fuel pump for the test please?

Pull the fuse or pump relay.

...........then crank it over for a couple of seconds to get rid of the fuel and pressure in the system......(forgot that bit)
