How Many Rattles

My S3 never had a single rattle. The FR however has several and its now at the stealers, so expect about another 5 or so when i get it back.

got my FR today - interestingly only one above the drivers mirror/sun visor..weird, but when I pushed into the roof it went away...will keep you (and the dealer) posted!

My last one is almost a metallic sound coming i think from the main front dash area that house stereo and air con (although i could be wrong - I was on the drivers side one twice lol!!). It is intermittent and does not seem to happen until driving for a while, it is more of a resonance thing rather than going over a bump = rattle, if you go over a bumpy road it may set it off. I will investigate further this weekend, until then loud music!!!

I think I read in one of Bill Brockbank (Badger 5) posts recently that he got about 25kg of wiring loom out of a Mk3 Ibiza. Can you imagine how much there is in these new cars!?!?!? Happy sound-deadening mate - I always end up with new rattles if I take stuff apart trying to find it!

the can-bus system is meant to cut down on wiring (ie cheaper).

i think the problems are because that behind all the nice interior trim, most cars are held together with crappy plastic clips, tie wraps, and chewing gum.

no matter what budget you have for a car, they are all built to a budget, and the more cheaply they can be made the more margin there is for the manufacturer.

My boxster had many rattles so its prob a VAG group thing lol ... even though they own them.

hi everyone mine got no rattle sound fortunatly bit when exceeding the 80kph i ged a sort of whistle from the drivers window and some times it stops . i haven't fixed it yet but i think it' the plastic part between the front window and the rear fixed window. mine is 3 door btw .
any other ideas ppl

Rattles...the search continues...

I have one remaining rattle, having removed the stereo, airvents, lower dash, and done about 12 fixes under the bonnet (about 25 fixes in total) so my inescapable conclusion is the last one is in the unsympathetic (hard/soft or hard/hard) plastics in the forward windscreen vents...very hard to get at.

It does go away when the weather is warmer though...- I guess SEAT in Spain think we are whingers because I doubt their Spanish customers suffer these rattles...

THankgod!!! When ever i put the sterio on above level 8 the rear driver side door handle ratles like a mo fo. Really annoying as its jst behind my ear, and now the passenger door handle does it. When it last went in for its service i told them. they said they packed the door and refitted the handles. Quel Surprise, not sorted. I really hate dealers sometimes!!!

If its any consolation Audi's rattle too. I've had an incurable on in the centre console since new, and a horrible dash vibration when I start the car which is intermittent and hasn't been cured to date. The windows also rattle in the frames, but dealers are looking at that this week :-(

I suppose there is so much wiring and crap behind the scenes in cars now you almost have to expect it even though it is as annoying as f"ck

For the centre console, check around the handbrake, with interest to the release button! I had a buzz for ages and accidentally found it was the handbrake button buzzing esp. round corners etc. Some foam shoved in done then trick.

I must be one of the lucky ones - despite being 4.5 years old, there's barely a sound from my car - a welcome relief from the SEAT's - the creaking, groaning and rattling used to drive me insane!

i have a 56 plate fr tdi which has a metallic 'tapping' sound that comes from the passenger bulkhead area its completely intermittent no pattern to it smooth road rough road doesn't matter! its been into lc charles 4 times and been severely stripped down on 3 of those occasions(dash out,panels removed,spot welds re-done)needless to say it came back each time with extra rattles and other damage.originally i rejected the car and asked for a like for like replacement which seat uk agreed to do,but then they changed their minds saying they 'couldn't find' a suitable car!so it is now at seat uk's main technical department at milton keynes being stripped again now they've mentioned drilling the sub frame and doing more welding!!! seat uk customer 'care' have been absolutely 'uncaring' and useless,i've had more information on whats happening to my car from the dealership than i have from them.seat uk have told me that once the car is fixed they will look into finding me a replacement car as i have told them that i do not want that car back after everything thats been done to it,but we will see.i'm not holding my breath!!

I got my leon from LC Chrles in crewe, how dissappointed i am with the customer care is difficult to put into words, They just don't give a ****. The girl on the front desk is tasty tho!!!

My 09 K1 rattles in the center console near the handbreak and also by the radio.. Plus the left rear and drivers side front speakers rattle already.. that might be my fault tho

I had a couple of rattles, especially when the music is on. The rear drivers side door handle and the front passenger door handle would as well. I've fitted the aluminium effect door trims myself, now there's nothing. If anything the sound feels more solid and not so thin and tinny!!!

well i finally got my fr back from milton keynes(after 2 months!) and was told the famous rattle was cured....alas i took it for a test drive around the block when i went to pick it up from l.c. charles and it did it 3 times!!!!! and on top of this it had several nasty scratches on the interior panels,loads of white grease sprayed around the strut mounting/bulkhead area on the suspect side,a couple of scratches to the paint work,a small dent and lots of dirty fingerprints around the interior.needless to say i was not impressed,seat as i expected went back on their word and said they would not supply another car and that it would have to go back to milton keynes.i said no way was it going back there and hung up on them out of shear frustration.to cut an even longer story short l.c charles were brilliant they offered to buy the car back from me at book price and asked seat uk to add the rest to reach the figure i wanted as i felt i was owed some compensation.eventually seat agreed and l.c.charles bought the car from me and even gave me a courtesy car for a week so i could look for another car,seat customer care could learn ALOT from them! so i now own a civic 2.2ctdi ex ,i do miss my fr but i don't miss the stress of dealing with seat 'customer care.'so i will be advertising my private plate(A 170 FR)in the for sale forum soon.

I finally got my big rattle sorted. Turns out the panel surrounding the jacking point on the front passenger side wasn't fitted properly. It was sitting in such a way that as I got up to speed the air would get behind it, making the noise. Got it refitted and secured at the dealer.

Although the dealer originally tried to blame the centre air vent. Obviously they never even bothered to drive it.

I have one rattle. If the sun roof shade thingy is all the way back whilst the sun roof is shut I get a rattle, that's it.

My mk4 Ibiza was a rattle mobile and did my head in. The ride in the Ibiza is very harsh and causes a lot of rattles. the leon on the other hand seems like a rolls royce when it comes to the ride. I can drive over a match and I can't tell if it was a new one or a spent one.

I had a rattle for two months when bought my Toledo, dealer couldnt find it, i couldnt find it, left turn and right tur from the back was a rattle! turned out to be a jumping bean thingy rolling around under the rear passenger seats, infuriating!

Have arattle in the door now, seems to be midway up but cant tell if it back or front of the door, lock? Regulator?
