hi peeps,

Got a problem with the mk3 ibiza cupra....

it use to be fine but recently its different...

the computer that tells you how much fuel you have left when i put a FULL tank in would say 320miles or a little below....

now every time i fill it, it just goes to about 190miles...... then slowly increases over time to about 220miles but doesn't really go any further even though the tank is full....

now i do fill my tank up completly......right to the brim but not sure if this confuses it.... it worked before like that...

where is the sensor located? how does the system work??? I have no errors at all on VAG.com????

any help appreciated....checked search and couldn't find anything to do with the fuel indicator..

Cheers

Rich

well vbeen outt oday and started at 200miles.... then went to 220miles and eventually settled at 255miles...

its going up rather than down, something is clearly wrong..

so can i vag.com check anything or anyone know where the sensor is?

I filled mine when i was running about 31mpg (being sensibe) and got 320miles to empty tht was 42ltrs about £35 and ive ran up 240miles and i think it says 40miles left in the tank at 30mpg, so petrol light is due to come on anytime soon.

from lookin at it and studying the trip computer, seems to me like it calulates the amount in your tank by what your average is.., and real time mpg ..... like if u reset it and fill up, then go out for some thrashing and get alow average it seems to say there is less in ur tank than what really is lol . i dont think its that accurate, ur better off just looking at the fuel gauge lol

the ´sensor´ will be the sensor in the fuel tank. this tells the ecu h ow much fuel is left.
it them calulates how far you will get based on how much fuel is left and how many mpg you are getting. it gets the mpg from your trip computer figures.

this is why i was talking about mpg.
if it goes up and down this is due to the calulation being based on last few miles.
if you are in town and rag it the miles will drop. if you go on a nice a road at 60 it will go up loads as it assumes you will drive like this and get this sort of mpg.
