I filled up my Ibiza today like I do every Friday except today its cost me £55!!
ive never put £55 of fuel in anything ive driven!
anyway my car is a 1.4TDi remapped and ive noticed I'm doing about 400 miles to a full tank which doesn't seem much to me.
what miles are other people doing to a full tank because I'm seriously thinking of changing!!

costs around £50 to fill mine up full.

Getting around 50mpg on average(per journey) with it according to the trip computer.

Get around 40 average if i go on motorways though, but i think thats because the 100ps 1.4 revs stupidly high if you go over about 65/70

Found that i get about 60-80 miles as soon as my car redlights though.

ive just been on an mpg converter and roughly worked out that I'm doing 44mpg average per full tank but for a diesel even with a heavy right foot I feel this is low! I used less than that in a saxo vtr driving like an idiot!
I can do about 80miles with the red light too :)

Does seem a bit low, but i guess it depends on the roads, i remember at my old work there was a huge uphill so i averaged around 40. Now most of the roads are country roads / bypass so pretty much flat. Also usually only 1 - 2 people in the car and only really fill up the tank by £20 at a time. Notice a huge difference when i fill up the tank full.

I get 425-450 to a tank normaly. Trip computer says 55mpg average, Excel says 52ish average.

I am considering getting an FR and having it remapped in September but with the rising cost of diesel I dont know what to do!
I feel the 3cylinder engine my car has is not economical at all!

I do 330 miles per tank in my 1.2. I thought that was really low considering what seat claims it will do. I'd of thought the 1.4 tdi would have done alot more than 400 miles to the tank, about 500 i'd of thought.

It's rather worrying that seat say it'll average about 60mpg but you're only getting 45ish.

yes thats exactly what I thought! to be fair I get about 380-395 to a full tank if I'm lucky and have done a lot of country roads and motorways it can go up to 430 at the very most!

To make you feel sick. I once did 360miles on one tank....

...then put 44.54 litres into my 45 litre tank :p

You guys should consider yourselves lucky enough...I do roughly 300 miles to a tank driving in and around London (and that's being easy on the throttle)! I average between 32-35mpg in the city, when I drove down to Southampton this easily rose up to 45mpg (hitting quite good speeds ;) )

As for filling up mine I guess from empty would cost £50 as I kept going til the tank was nearly dry once and paid out £49 to fill up...

You could say the small tank in the Ibiza's is a downfall, however, I'm quite chuffed about paying £45/wk, compared to Leon and Golf owners with bigger tanks ;)

To be fair, im sure you can get more mpg out of the 1.4tdi, im getting a good 48mpg around town, Milton Keynes to be exact. Thats all stop start roundabouts if your a nutter at the wheel, or a good 60/70mph and then cruising down to 30/40 to hit the roundabout just right so theres no traffic coming! Im unlucky if i have to brake much at any roundabout!
Maybe thats me being uber aware of the road ahead though.
Another way of putting it, my brake pads after 21k still a good 2/3rds intact.
think of it this way, when you put your foot on the brake, your loosing mpg. (you had to get up to speed to begin with remember)

How many miles on your 1.4tdi? tdi's are run in between 40-60k, then it will get its best mpg

Im sure if any guys that drive around MK browse this will back me up saying you become very aware of how you can influence your mpg by your driving style, weather your a stop / start driver or a fluent driver really shows!!! (Also on tyre wear!!!)

hmmm.... maybe this is the influencing factor in pursuading me to get an FR :D the 1.4TDi is a good nippy engine but from what I'm hearing on here the 1.9 seems to be quicker and does more mpg!

fair play chris, i dont know then! my Fr gets a good 45 - 50 around down (45 if you thrash it constantly) have seen 60mpg out of 320 mile runs!!!! Maybe its an Fr thing! :D

SHELL fuel all the way btw  especially when you own a points card :funk:

NickyJam, I have the points card, never received anything from it, although I do have the Citi Shell Credit Card, you get a 3% (or 6% cant remember) on all the fuel you purchase..... I usually get about £5 reimbursed a month..... I make sure I pay off the fuel bills IN FULL each month so i never get interest added, seems like a good deal to me! :)

Actually i'm going to go look at a 1.4tdi on sunday. Should i even bother? Anyone else getting any other mpg figures out of the 1.4?
