hello new member here just bought my first leon :D but unfortunately the carpets were soaked i have used a old hoover to take out most of the water but theres still abit in areas is there anything i can use to completely dry out the carpets love the week car but it was cheap so was expecting problems thanks in advance

I first used a syringe and an awl to push holes into the carpet to feed the syringe through. For extra reach and flexibility I pushed a straw on the end as well.
You can feel around for the deepest parts and extract from there. It takes time and patience but within an hour I had removed a couple of litres and hadn't disturbed the carpet. I have a cheap de-humidifier and left that running in the car over a couple of nights and that sucked the rest out of the carpets and interior. You could buy loads of cheap ones from online and leave them in there.
Of course it is crucial you redo the air filter and wiring entry and door panels. Done properly you should never have the problem again.

I went and took the whole carpet and underlay out. All in all it took me about 2 hours to get the seats and carpets out then put the seats back.

Nearly a week later the carpets are still damp in parts o_O

Remove the underlay and bin it or replace it....That's pretty much never going to dry and now it's going to start to smell. Take the carpet out and use a carpet cleaner. Noise from the underlay being removed is pretty minimal.
Just my opinion.

could i just replace the whole carpet with one from a mk4 golf or will it not fit

At the bottom of the door near the speaker is where it builds up and comes in that way. Builds up and dribble's into the car/carpet

Agree with what others have said - you need to source the leak and fix it otherwise drying the carpets is a waste of time. If you remove the door card and check if the carrier is wet anywhere (near the speaker is favourite). If it is then the seal needs doing. Take your time and do it properly once. Also if you remove the complete carrier and glass, check the drain holes in the bottom of the door.

its only seems to be the carpet wet the door panel and seats are always dry

And it's only the carpet we are talking about.

As you will have read from the first reply to your question the foam Seat used goes brittle over time and breaks away. This leads to water getting in through the doors, the drain holes get blocked, the bottom of the door fills and spills past the bad foam under the door card into the front or back footwells.

In the scuttle bay the cabin filter and wiring loom entry are also known leak areas.

In my first Leon I cut a square out and got the water out, the second Leon I used the syringe method. I had a pool of water in the rear wells and got rid of it all as I previously described. Neither car has since leaked 5 years on.

As it's the lower section of the backing plate you need to worry about the job can be done without total removal and having to worry about the carrier and glass. I got a couple of longer bolts to hold it in place but allow more wiggle room while I worked.

If you just change the carpet you will have a wet carpet again in no time.

As others have said, the carrier plate seal has likeley failed. It doesnt take long to do yourself.

If you want to find out if yours is leaking, just run your finger along the bottom edge of the door card after it has been raining or youve just washed it. If its wet, the seal is leaking

i know its just alot of people were trying to tell me it would be coming in from the top of the doors. i take the door card off and it turns out there no foam there i'll just put in all the doors thanks

everytime i open the door there water on the top to the sill so its leaking i'll just replace the seals thanks
