Hybrid K04 Turbo Discussion

Scotty, what do they show/mean? I've not got any experience with vagcom so im a newbie to these readings at the moment.

I see Mork has made an interesting graph, is that airflow readings vs bhp? (Is that showing a touch over 300bhp according to the airflow readings?)

What are these logs telling us over the standard k04 logs Scotty?

Im not 100% sure matey, ive asked the guys with more experience to explain them a bit more as my knowledge only really goes to fault finding and problems at the moment if that makes sense

Hello, I bought a lcr 02 plate 6 weeks ago and wanna up the power... so how much will this cost to have imported setup and full functional.....

on a standard engine plus the uprated turbo what sort of power increase will there be?
 
You would really need:
FMIC - £600
Remap - £600
Turbo - £1k
Exhaust - £1k
Air Filter - £60
plus fitting and a few other bits im sure ive forgot!

To be honest i would go and get her mapped first then take it from there to see if your happy. Also you may want to look at doing the basics like brakes and suspension upgrade.

Power is what we are all waiting to see but circa 300 bhp with our set ups compared to 280bhp with the usual map etc

Yeah agree with Scotty, you need FMIC/Induction and exhaust along with the hosing to get the best out of it.

You can get a full BF exhaust system for around £650 all in including fitting, and a Forge FMIC costs around £850 inc fitting. Turbo is £1k and remap £600. Turbo fitting is around £300 and you'll also need to upgrade the DV (£100) and TIP (£150inc fitting) Induction kit another £200 on top or you can modify your airbox yourself and pop in a panel filter £50

All in about £3850 to get it upto this kind of spec.

Then of course you've got all the other little bits and bobs, boost gauges/brake pads/tyres etc

Soon gets expensive and is a progressive thing really.

Scotty gives good advice, get your car remapped 1st to give you an idea as you may not want to hike things further as chipped LCR's are plenty fast enough as it is! If you are 100% certain you do want to go down this route, leave the remap until last otherwise you'll be like me who has now needed to fork out for 2 remaps!
 
Good work Scotty, you've been busy.
The Lambda logs show your fueling ain't lean during load so its nice and safe for you.
The air mass logs show significant gains. Your Revo settings seem to be very conservative for the boost. I'll be looking to run at 1.5 bar.

SIE did you ever vagcom boost as your RR plot looks as it should be. Why do you think your spiking unduly high.
 
It spikes because requested boost maxs the MAP sensor sensor out at 1.55BAR so the ECU can't see the boost to pull it back down so the wastegate remains closed for too long! Stage 2 REVO is much more progressive then stage 2 APR which is much more agressive with its boost delivery!

When supplying 100% load (flooring it) it is safest to run a little rich rather than let the A/F mixture run lean.
Stoich is a ratio of fuel to air which is regarded as the optimum a/f ratio. It is generally accepted that this is 14.7. When we log group 31 the lamda probe (wideband sensor) is supplying a voltage output which is proportional to the burn't A/f mixture its sensing. generally 1v relates to stoich (14.7).
In its simplest form what ever values you log, simply multiply them by 14.7 to give you the true A/F ratio. Above 14.7 represents the mix going lean, below 14.7 represents the mixture going rich (safest).
Easier still is to compare the logs to this:- Above 1 = going lean
Below 1 = going rich (good)

Max power is produced when sensor reads between 0.8-0.9

The above is not the be all and end all its just a rough guide and generalisation as Stoich does not nescessarily mean its the most powerful ratio, but for novices like me it is good enough.
When off load, ratio can appear to run a little lean.
Remember that vagcom sampling rates need to be higher to get truely accurate results and i would always compare group 20 (knock control) to check quality of fuel and timing. (below 7 is good).

Come on anyone else got there’s up and running now?
Im seeing something strange on my boost gauge, it seems to flutter between 5-9 psi when im on half boost, a kind of surge? Any ideas? (ow and its not a dodgy gauge as its relatively slow and im taking my pressure from the FPR) Im going to have a search but info would be great

Also my houseing for my MAF seem sto be damaged (think its just a scratch) but i was looking at maybe trying one of these. Anyone know of any issues?

Mines seems to still be okay, but im running it in gently to rack up the miles before mapping it a week today so i can then give it some proper abuse:)

Scotty i would seriously think about getting it properly mapped to get the best from it:)

it'll make the car under read & over fuel scott - I think they demonstrate it to loose 11%? - so your chances of running lean will be greatly increased
 
Can't remember the figure, but the stock S3/TT/LCR MAF is used on BT upgrades so the upper limit of what it can adequately flow won't be a problem for you.

Like m0rk says, the bigger tube will make the MAF under read.

Now the BAMM is supposed to be scaled to match a 4bar fpr, but if you're on stage 2 your stock MAF tube will be scaled for a 4 bar fpr, so what do you run?

Particularly with your setup, I wouldn't run one - If I were you I'd be concentrating on getting the boost turned up ;)
 
I think i will try and get another stock MAF tube then rather than upgrading it. The running lean bit did worry me.

I really want a remap BUT at the moment the cars running ok so im going to save my money until i have finished the engine off as i dont want to have to get another map in a few months to finish her off. Next engine mods are Intake mani and exhaust mani. They may make bugger all difference but I would rather have them on before getting her custom mapped. Plus its £650 for a re map or £700 for a diff so that’s persuading me to save my money too. I think i will get more enjoyment out of the diff for the time being as well. Mind you if you get yours jabba'd and you get loads more power than me i will be there the next day!

Also i turned the settings up to T7 and HB8 and i found i had a bit of a flat spot at the top end so ive dropped her back a bit
