lol how do you mean?

at the end day cupra r and cupra come different price range! From my opnion if i had around £9 to spend i'll get cupra r, but if your budget abit less , a step down from cupra r is cupra (180bhp), then early cupra, sport veriosn ect...

as you can see i am budgeting a bit, but also being sensible and saving my money and going for the cheaper variant

but there is a side to me that wants the older leon anyway

each to their own i guess:D

yeh my side is if you got the money go all out ;)
but every cars meet ppl requirements considering mpg, maintance cost - insurance cost also

Been reading this thread with interest. I also prefer the shape of the older leons over the "curvier" look of the mkII.

My '02 ovni LC still turns heads, probably a combination of car and colour. And it isn't too difficult to give it that more aggressive "i'm a fast car look". Heres a couple of links to a recent play I had with photoshop.

Colour coded strips, lowering and darker wheels.

Comments welcome!!

thats looks quite good! im thing of doin that with mines with paint pro before getting the spray can :D

I have a 2000 leon and was thinking of colour coded strips then went off the idie now after seeing the pics i change my mind again, it looks good!! I think the black strips look old fashion. Thats the only thing i dont like about my car

I've done the same thing with the strips - yes then no a couple of times. Finally decided to photoshop it, and now i'm thinking yes.

I'm wondering how easy it is to do, with regards to painting the plastic. What do you need to put on to seal, if you do, or do you just go straight on with the paint??

that looks v nice mate and i think more than proves the point the orginal Leons can look v nice with just a few subtle mods for sure

But what makes me smile, is you say you prefer the looks of the older, pre-facelift Leon but then go and colour code the bump strips, which are the biggest visual difference between the two!

And Harvey - re your earlier post in answer to my question, that does indeed answer my question. You said yourself you wanted the LCR but the LC is the better choice for you as it's cheaper but still does what you want, so cheers for that :)

I'll agree with rllmuk (best forum in the world) on this one. I think the standard 2001 cupra looks a bit poo. The Cupra R and facelifted leons look heaps better.

Someone needs to go to specsavers lol

In all seriousness, i prefer the face lift, the unpainted bumpstrips look like a base model and the wheels are awful. Personal preference at the end of the day, i have never bought into the sleeper thing, i want something that looks good and goes well.

IMO, I prefer the MK1 leons..But do like the MK2 ones, but only when they've had all the extra body kit etc...added on to them.
Friend of mine has one and it looks well nice :)

each to their own mate, you have your preferences and i have mine

you know on ovnis i think the black plastic strips actually make it look better. :ban:

lcrs a different motor. ive spent loads on brembos, wheels to get my cupra up powerwise. starting on a lcr would have been easier not certain if it would have been cheaper tho. and then theres that lack of bump strips!

and id miss my leather seats..... nice to end up on the missus lap when cornering fast ;)
