looking at getting a 1.9d. Its got full seat service histroy but has 130k miles on it. How much more miles could the engine be good for? Going to be doing lots of motorway miles.

If its been looked after and is running ok it should easily do loads more miles. However you can never say as each car can be different!

My friend has a 1.9d golf 1998 with 210000 on and still going strong! (its the same engine!) and never been rebuilt.

the 1.9 na diesel is slow and very noisy, recommend the tdi though!

like elnigel said, if it's been looked after well it should have plenty of life left in it.
I'm on my second 1.9tdi beeza, the first had 200k on it and was running fine, my current has 115k and again no problems so far.
I also second what vw_g60 said, I've driven a 1.9D and it's beyond boring. If you're after a diesel, get a tdi :)

Because of the low revs that diesels do, this should allow them to do 3x more miles than a regular petrol engine. Ensure service history is up to speed though

Mmm. Ok. Cheers for the feedback. Its got full Seat service history so has been looked after.
