I'm fitting an ibiza cupra engine ('01 AYP) engine fitted to my mk2 golf. I'm running the car from a complete ibiza loom using all the ancillaries.
I'm having a little problem with the battery connections though.
I've connected the +ve and the loom is powered giving all lights, dash, interior fans etc.
The problem i am having is that the power to the fuel pump relay is coming to the wrong pins for switching.
I have shorted across the relay contacts to get the pump running and the engine starts and runs.
I have confirmed the relay is the correct one, and that the relay is operating (tried it in another car).
I have a number of cables not connected in the engine bay (all black with crimped ends that hold captive nuts) i assumed these to be associated with the ABS, can anyone confirm this?

My question is have i missed out live connections to the battery?

I'm aware that on a leon there is a live connector rail that sits below a cover on top of the battery, does the ibiza have a similar setup?

Any advice or pics would be gratefully recieved

Cheers Andy

Ok this is a long shot, as my knowledge og engine installs is very low to say the least lol.

The fuse box on top of the battery has a metel strap on the side which attches to the +ve terminal, is this connected or even there? As im sure before when i have worked on the car and forgot to re connect this the car has failed to start.

I could end up getting my coat here lol:duck:

Ah sounds like you may be on to something there :D

I wasn't sure if the ibiza had a common live rail on top of the battery, i haven't got this part so that could be my problem.

Has anyone got any pics of the part?
Any ideas what the cables connected to this are for?

Not the best pic but the only one i could find in a rush.

Its the metel strap on the left you can see which is what im talking about.

As said this then bolts to the +ve terminal.

Thats brilliant m8, you've hit it first go :D
Don't have that fuse box at all, the cables connected to it are the ones i thought may have had something to do with the ABS system.
Looks like thats me on the hunt for parts again

Thanks very much for the help, been scratchin my head for a while on that :)

Hope that clears the issue for you.

You can get a brand new part from the dealers for ~£40 IIRC.

Im on the ball today!

Heres the part numbers for what you will need:

1JO 937 617 - Fuse Holder (with fuses and all mounting bolts)
1JO 937 506 C - Retainer for fuse box
1JO 937 555 - Fuse Box cover
