A properly remapped Ibiza Cupra TDi will have the legs on a Cupra R (standard) to a ton at least.

Dont sell the car short ;)

I had more than the legs of a standard LCR (Mr Smooths) and wasnt far behind J@MES either.

Have a video on my phone from a fairmile meet last year where i made mr smooth look silly  but that wont be getting posted on here ;)

 ill have to try and sort something out in coventry ;) as the mrs lives there and im sure the rugby lot wouldnt mind traveling down a jct on the m6 ;)

the cupras do ok on depreciation, but the Fr's are beter as they start £3k lower and again don't fall too mch below 9k. More demand for the FR i suppose.

I lost hardly anything when i sold mine on . and on my Mini which is depreciation king still, i paid £10k for it and last weekend got offered 10300 part ex against a new one, and i have ha it for 6 months. now thats a result and half

30ish mpg is a long way off 50 mpg though when your doing 60 miles a day

I do that + a bit more got a petrol but then again love reving it past 5k. Don't know why cupra depriciate more than FR's. Guessing insurance cost. But then again the derv cupra come in at about 1k more than the petrol version, but has a less insurance group.

Ant you must have spent more than 3k to your old petrol past a cupra level. eg. FMIC, brakes interior.....etc?

Hi all

Newbie here, just sold an Audi S3 and I'm looking at Cupra TDI's. Are you saying that they're not good for 50mpg in standard trim (I need economy)?

I would say you will easily manage the high 40's if you driving normally, ie briskly inner city, lots of traffice lights and junctions, etc.

you should easily mange into the 50's on Motorway and easy back road runs (not to much traffic)

Should get over 60 if driving down the Motorway at about 55MPH for prolonged periods.

I haven't been able to get below 36MPG even on long journeys giving it loads of stick and passing everything.

But thats generally my findings in 2 years of ownership.

Ive only once got over 50MPG, and that was 57 on the way back from Fortwilliam down the little A roads.

Ive never really driven mine for economy... I just dont have the mind set :(

Cool!

Thanks for the responses all. I'm really interested in the Ibiza or possibly the old shape Leon Cupra or FR.

If anyone had an LCR would you ever consider swapping for a IBIZA Cupra TDI?

I've got an LCR and my mileage is starting to creep up and up with work and I could probably swap my 2005 LCR for an almost new IBIZA Cupra TDI with no money down there abouts.

I Love the Cupra TDIs but never driven one. Driven a 130 sport but not a cupra. Are the 160PDs all that?

I um and arrr about getting a LCR on new Cupra quite alot, but yes I love my little soot maker.

I personally think the 160PD are all that ;)

I think the 130 pd is all that, especially after a remap, so a cupra 160 pd must be great! I know the petrols are! (rash's car!)

Yeah the 130s are quite rapid through the mid-range.

I know the 160 Cupra wont be a LCR but with that power in smaller car they must pack a fair punch; and do good mileage out of a tank of juice aswell.

I'd say it'd be close! 160pd vs 210/225 LCR, both standard, but the LCR would certainly have the legs.

remap the pd160 and it will be a totally different kettle of fish.......... the torque will blow you away matey ;)
