Yesterday I travelled 130 miles(each way!) to P-Torque.

Turned up, to find a rather tasty R8, 2 Mini cooper S' Parked outside and a Lovely Orange S3 inside.

His workshop is spotless, and very well presented. I'm an ex-Renaultsport specialist tech so I know how nice it is to see and work in a clean enviornment.

Will Came out and intorduced himeself, and offered a Drink, Which was nice considering most garages wouldnt offer anything like that! And actually asked if it was ok to Run another car on the rollers before getting mine on! Of course I had no problem with it as the car was there before mine!

Will Ran through a few pre-checks and then Ran it on the rollers before doing the map. Then did a post map run and the results were impressive!

Asked me to take it out for a run before telling me the figures, which I personally see as being very professional, as it allows you to make up your own mind before hearing the increase.

On the journey down, varying speed(60-100leptons) and traffic it averaged 46.9mpg. The return journey, which had alot of accelerating(with a smile!) saw an increase on average of 8mpg!

Without saying final figures as these vary so much between Rolling roads, Increase was 39.2BHP and 66.6lb/ft. And its a totally different car. I wish i had it done sooner!

Can't recommend Will enough, for general customer service, taking the time to speak to you on the phone and in person, he was very welcoming and even supplied 2 stickers for me when I asked! Aswell as his maps. one very very pleased customer.

P-Torque are spot on, i've never read a bad thing about them unlike some of the other well known places.

will did the remap on my TT 225. wasnt an aggressive map but a really strong smooth one, everyone loves his work :)

zach what did he map your 225 to if you don't mind me asking? i'm fancying one as my next car.

As above, I can't fault Will, with my map. Just be weary of blowing hoses and/or slipping the clutch from lower revs.

Lee.

My map is very smooth. Got it done before Will had his workshop. He remapped it in his parents garage!! 4 years and 60k miles later it's still brilliant.

As for mpg, it always over-reads after being remapped, so I wouldn't trust it. It's around 3 to 5 mpg over what it should be.

anyone know what you expect out of 20VT stage 1 map?

probably gunna go to Ptorque, even though it's a trek the journey back is fun ^_^

See my sig, thats what I got from my stage 1 map at p-torque on the 1.8T 20V engine.

any changes?

I have cotton panel filter & cut the flap out of the air intake ^_^
revs really free now =]
was on look out for PD160 intake but they're stupidly expensive for what they are!
waiting for the forge intake really

215bhp is awesome, exactly what figure I wanted :D

you wont get 215 on a stage 1 with them mods the smic is a killer on the rolling road. fmic and turbo downpipe you would but then your ready for stage 2 mapping

don't really wanna do stage 2 or any other mods yet, I may have to sell the car in Sept for uni next year, so oem mods are kinda where it's at for now, no 215bhp then :(

200bhp is a more realistic power figure. SMIC does let it down somewhat.
Saying that, I had mine mapped by Will and saw 229bhp on his rollers (but it was -2 in the workshop when it was being mapped ) At JKM, it ran 199bhp (and it was due a service) so 200bhp is more like it!

yeah 200 what you get i have got 197.8 and 198 with stage 1 map split r open cone and cat chopped . i would never trust using rollers at the place thats mapping it

I wouldn't trust myself fitting a FMIC
does the cupra one fit straight on & no bumper cutting ?

you make me sad no 215 :( haha

Will wasn't claiming it to be mapped to 229bhp, its just he could dial in loads of timing at those temps! :)

what im saying is mappers with there own rolling road seem to always hit the exact claimed figures i would go somewere else for a second reading just to make sure

Totally agree. The old "dyno lottery" anyway... :)

Plus, just feeling the difference a remap makes is what it is all about, not just chasing numbers (at stage 1 anyway.)

yeah the drive home is always fun think normally you get the 1.8t up to the 200 mark and the pd130s to 170 with a strong map

yeah I know it's gunna make it much better to drive

does the power come in earlier or last longer etc. ?

I'm really torn on whether to get it done before or after winter :S
It would help as it would be nice and smooth map, yet having an extra 50bhp may be killer
I won't be driving stupidly so probs just being over cautious
