now i have had this for a while thought i could figure out how to sort it out but...

when i start my car i have to keep my foot on the gas and keep it idling at 1000rpm, when im driving if i change gear in a 'cant be arsed mood' the revs drop to 250rpm then battery light comes on then i clutch up and it bassicly jumpstarts my car. if i am comming to some lights i have to left foot brake and keep my car at 1000 rpm.

when the car warms up i can come off the throttle and it will idle at just over 500rpm but only if i come off gas slowly and gently. i think my throttle cable is streched so im gonna be replacing this soon but my stepdad thnks it ths auto choke that holds it at 500rpm.

i thought it might have been because my throttlebody was dirty so i took inlet off and give it a good clean, did not fix anything so any ideas as to why this is happening??

thanks in advance

ye i would have thought that if the idle isnt erractic or fluctuating and if the engine doesnt ever hesitate replacing the throttle cables' probably a good bet!
