Idling issued

When I start my car in the morning it usually idles at 1k revs for a few minutes before it comes down.

It’s winter time now and after starting the car drops below 1k revs within half a minute.

Anyone know what the issue could be.

I am fairly sure the stock VAG Startup process is 1k and then after a period drops to 7/800 but could not tell you how quickly that happens other than its not a long time.

@Haych - Both VW petrol engined cars I’ve owned (a 1.8 Polo GTI and a 2.0 Polo GTI+) behaved exactly the same on cold start up. I’d say it’s normal procedure and nothing to worry about.

For me it takes over a minute before it drops to 700-800rpm on a cold start. I would also not worry about this behaviour, seems pretty normal
