I ordered the Halfords aerial Monday night - on up to 4 day delivery, rather than next day. It arrived this morning. Removable mast, so my S2000 should fit into it.

I plugged it into the aerial amp tonight, ran the wire through the cabin and temporarily clipped the mast to an inner rear roof handle. Switched on, fantastic reception. :cartman:

I'll do a how-to when I get a chance to fit it properly.

Apologies dragging this thread up again, I think I may replace the ariel in my Beezer very soon as AM reception is non-existant.
Does the mk2 need the ariel co-axiel cable dragged right through the car to change the ariel base or is there a connector in the roof section to unplug and make life much easier? My guess is it's the hard way!
Other than that, how easy is it to drop the back of the headlining? I fiddled about with the trim sections that go around the headliner on Sunday but didn't want to start yanking at them and breaking clips.

I haven't had a chance to install mine properly yet, Andy. I personally wouldn't want to go to the effort of dropping the headlining to discover it's actually the coax that's faulty. Do the lot!

(at present, I have a new aerial wedged through the 3rd brake light and cable through the cabin :hide: )
 
Right, had a couple of hours free this morning, the sun was shining, so I thought I'd start ripping the Beezer apart.
Being lazy, my version of ripping it apart cosists of seeing how little I can get away with doing. :D

I dropped the very rear part of the headlining and carefully inserted my arm into the void so as not to bend the roof lining. Too late, I bent the roof lining a bit. :shrug:

I found the co-axial and pulled it towards me, it was wrapped in foam which was glued together. So I felt along it and lo and behold there is a join in it about 8 to 10 inches from the ariel base. I undid this (PITA as it's covered in gluey foam) and quickly realised that it is a completely different connector to the ones that come on universal ariels, so the spare one in my garage won't connect to the original co-ax. Arse.
Next up I phoned SEAT, they couldn't call up an image on ETKA to check the connectors on the ones they can obtain now (which knowing my luck are completely different to the ones fitted at the factory). So I took a hard gulp and asked the parts guy to order one. I was actually quite surprised as the ariel base from SEAT was only just over a tenner including VAT!!! I'll see what turns up and report back when it arrives.

For those that have ariel problems, the ariel co-ax on mine runs down the N/S C-pillar, in behind the rear trim and then down under the carpet on the near side of the car, just for future reference which makes it quite handy as you don't have to take the whole headliner down. Mind you I think I'd recommend taking a bit more down than I did as I bent mine!
 
oooh mine goes down the B pillar - but then the lining is coming out soon anyway
