Just bear in mind that any ambient light passing through the bulbs, even when they're off, will be orange, so in bright conditions they will still have a slightly orange glow. Only on dull days, or when viewed straight ahead will they really look silver.
 
I have never experienced that, proper bulbs are silver all the way round. I use them in my headlights and taillights, even with ambient lighting I dont get the dreaded "fried egg" look.

What make are yours?
 
The ones I'm referring to are Osram Diadem Chrome. I was quite disappointed on fitting them. Sounds like Silvatec might be better, as well as cheaper.

Bulbs received

Received my silvatec indicator bulbs through the post today but I'm worried they are going to show through amber as it looks like only the top of the bulb is chrome.... Are these what everyone else uses....?

As can be seen in the last pic, it looks orange if daylight shines through it
