did you get a hpi check?

i might be able to help you out there for a 5er

Sounds rather cheeky! Lol :p

I haven't done a 'background' check, no. I did a £1.50SMS check for what the car actually is. I haven't checked Finance, stolen, write off etc.

What you proposing?

I work in gap insurance so we have hpi trade web.

Which will tell you if its changed colour, written off, stolen, finance, vin number, and a rough value of the car.

Cheers

I'm doing programming and I've made a few... I'll make you one??? :p

UPDATE:

Unfortuneatly, I cannot buy this car, or infact any car I would like.

Budget would be between £500-1000, and cheap insurance.

I am really gutted as I been searching for a long time, for the cars I would really like. I had my heart set on a few, but it's always just out of reach.

If you know any decent, reliable cars for 500-1000, please tell me.

Thanks

Life never treats you fairly it seems.

My accident, haven't walked for over 3 months now, dad has problems with his job, and that makes a getting a job which pays in the region of 60-80k a year very hard. I don't have a job because of my accident, I have a limited reserve of cash and pay award from my old job (Lifeguard).

It wouldn't be sensible to spend loads of a car, to find out you don't have a job for a while. Mortage etc,, gotta keep the cash in the bank incase **** happens.

2008 was the worst year of my life, and it's dragging over to 2009. Sucks

I was thinking about anything really. Maybe an old 1.6 barge of somesort.

When my dad finally gets a job again, and its secure and certain, I would of got an 05 1.9 TDI, or somesort.

:( Any advice on old reliable barges for 6-12 months?

Bad times matey, Ol1 sold his Ibiza TDi too

Id say a nice MK2 can be had for that money mate, chin up

I nearly had OL1's Ibiza!

I'm looking at 1995 onwards, 4 door saloon/coupe barges.

Relaible, safe comfortable..

Volvo.. S40 1.8..

I am a high milage person (20k a year) M-way and A roads etc. daily commute about 100 miles per day etc...

If it's Relaible that you are after and you also want good mpg look at a Toyota Carina E. Ugly as fook but does what it says on the tin. Used as taxi's in a lot of places and they go round the clock no bother.

The E model was a 1.6 or 1.8 petrol (cant remember) and it was super on fuel for a petrol engine 40+ MPG IIRC.

EDIT.

BTW 20k a year isn't high, 20k is the crossover point for Diesel power.

I'm doing 45k a year and have been for the last 13 years.

I have found a brilliant exmaple.

get this:

1996, Volvo S40, 1.8i 4 door. SE.

FULLY KITTED OUT.

full Leather, aircon, Radio CD player, sports seat, Cruise Control, Lumbar Support, Traction Control, trip computer, ABS, anti-theft system, front arm rests, remtoe central locking, alloys, eletric windows and mirros, sunfoof, color coding, fogs, metalic paintwork, plenty of airbags etc and in good condition, with a Full service history, only 116k milage.. for:

£895. Plenty of these volov's for cheap around!

Insurance group 10 (ahh) insurance £1900 WOW! (my swft 1.3 = 1600!) Fully comp.

And it's reasonalbe performance 10/11 sec to 0-60.

WOOT?

ohl, can't forget is Cream/brown leather + wood!

Am I being old here?

Edit, for a 17 year old, thats, just, god. I'm planning on doing more than 20k with additional stuff, but thats the base.

Mondeo, Yes a very good choice. Though, I hate the Toyota. I jsut dispise them 150%.

However, due to the Volvo's 'reputation' for safety and reliability, and you couldn't go far wrong if its been serviced nicely etc.

I quite like the Look of some Volvos

My dad has a new '06 plate one. It's nice :)

The Volvo S40 and V40 are a joint venture between Volvo and Mitsubishi, check out a Mitsubishi Carisma
