The Volvo S40 and V40 are a joint venture between Volvo and Mitsubishi, check out a Mitsubishi Carisma

Dislike mitsu. Is it an alternative? I think this seems ot be a good car with a lot going for it. Kitted out very nicely thats for sure.

It's not the best 'color' but what you get seems brilliant for what it is.

However, my dad said if we get cheap now, come 6 or so months, we can get a brilliant car.

Cupra/FR? Older BMW 3 series? etc. :)

As I work for Volvo (trucks & buses not cars thou) I say go for it very reliable! Hey in a few months you may well get a better job and you can get something a bit better. Life suck I know things are very bad for you at the moment it seems things go wrong every week for me so know how you must feel:(

Update:

I am viewing that volvo, in the link above me today.

All the specs seem good. It's the top of the range kit (specs same as on P3 of this thread)

2.0 litre Volvo, 0-60 9.3 sec. The same as the PD130. However, with cheaper insurance?!?!

And it's group 13, PD130 = Group 7?!

I'm shooting for £1100.

I'll let you know how old I am in later this afternoon. 17 gone 40 :D

They are nice cars behind the dodgy looks but don't be fooled by the Volvo badge, It's actually a Mitsubishi Carisma in disguise and not built in Sweden.

This is why they are cheap to buy second hand.

Don't get we wrong though it's still a better car than a lot I could mention.

I have....

Purchased the Volvo! :D

It drives sweatly. Aircon nice and cold, and it's also hot!

No odd sounds whatsoever. The engine humms along. Put your foot down, not only does it go, it starts to growl, loudly, as you get near redline at 7,000rpm! :D

It is nice and refined. Leather is in good shape. at 60+ the car is reasonably quite. Can't hear the engine. Turn the radio on, and all you can hear is the radio. Brilliant car.

The seats are oh-so comy, the started first time and within 1 second. The entertior looked surprisingly nice, and the looks for top of the range Sport Pack model, it looked pretty good aswell. Twin exhausts, as i said, gives a growl.

Everything works on it, we found cruise confusing, and so getting the mechanics to check and fully fix before we pick it up.

It's going to be Valleted and checked. :)Tax'ed and Mot'ded, Nov 09.

Bad points? It does feel it's age a bit.
The front splitter, is cracked, and broken on the right hand corner. (pick one of them up cheap)
1 of the alloy centre cap with the Volvo logo is gone, (pick one of them up too). A very small chip in the windscreen. Gonna get that sorted.

Apart from that, she drives a dream. No odd noises etc. A good motorway cruiser with a good 2.0litre engine, with a nice bit of poke, good sound. etc.

I say, good car! Oh, and a very nice Blue colour aswell. Tyres are almost new all round. However, they are crap Hankook's, or w/e, they add to the road noise a bit. But hey, what can you do :)

Ah the truck are definitely Swedish I have spoke to the technical team in Sweden, that call our techs so I still stand by what I said.

As for the cars sounds like it has made this man happy hopefully he will still be as happy in a few months/years as he is now.

It's nearly as quite as my dads '06 V70 SE 2.4D.

Thats saying something! and with a 0-60 time of 9 sec, it's bloody made me happy :D

It wasn't used for a month. Turned the key, in les than a second, on a bitter cold day it started perfectly. :D

I've see lots of these cars on high milage. They should do me for 1 year. Until I buy somethnig I reallly want :)

cheers for everyones help.

Cool, I hope you enjoy it! Sounds like you got a good car for the money. You'll have to get some pics up when you get it!

Funny how you joined SEATCupra.Net and then bought a Volvo... wonder what that says about us LMAO
