Intake temp too high?

Fitting an FMIC won't drop your inlet temps "that" much. If you're getting 90C now, it will be lower - but if the car is otherwise OK then surely there must be something badly wrong with the map?
Are Motorsport Developments actually capable Diesel tuners, or are they just uploading third party maps (like 95% of people advertising 'custom' maps do)
This is a run i did tonight with the grill and fog light removed. The first run shows boost against rpm in 3rd gear.
This run shows 4th gear as you can see the pressure is higher and this is wear it over boost's and goes into limp mode. I cant understand why the boost is higher in 4th when the map should only allow a peak of 1.55bar its going upto 1.65bar for some reason!

1.65Bar isnt excessive as such for a standard remap however. Spike in the map seems to be causing the limp mode perhaps?
I find that with the cooler intake temp tonight it didn't hit limp mode in 4th but it did in 5th. As you said i think the limp mode is caused my the excessive boost. The map used to run at 1.65bar max then they turned it down to 1.55bar, but it still keeps hitting limp mode! The company that did the map are very good with me, they said they have done 100's of pd130 and only had a problem with limp mode a couple of times. they did what they have done to mine turned the max boost down and up the boost limit slightly. Got a new map being written for Monday so will log that and see what happens.

1.65BAR should cause limp mode however on its own 
im no mapper, but something else is up imho.
I ran 2BAR albeit with a FMIC but zero limp mode.

See with that I would say it sounds like a boost leak causing it to spike maybe? hearing in high gears dur to a tad more boost in them gears maybe? I cant wait to see what it was!

A few of my opinions:
1) the intake temps are quite normal for a remapped Mk4 TDI without FMIC. Mine used to do the same quite easily (but never went into limp though), the SMIC struggles to cope with the extra boost.
2) the "pea whistle" type noise is fairly normal, mine did it too.
3) Cleaning your intercooler out of oil will have little or no effect (although cleaning all the dead flies/leaves/crud from between the fins is a good idea)
Have you checked for fault codes when it's gone into limp mode ?
I'd be very reluctant to shell out £££s on a FMIC in an attempt to cure this problem.

1) Badly written map
2) Turbo / VNT fault causing overboost
3) Suspect MAP sensor

Yes the fault code is upper boost limit exceeded. I stripped the front end today and had a look around everything looked fine. I wanted to check the turbo by seeing if there was any play on the shaft but could not get the clip off that holds the hose on. So whilst the car was stripped i took it down to the garge and they are going to check it all out for me today.
What you said sounds right and i'm hoping it just the map sensor! I know the remap is good cos I've had a generic remap on there as well and it still hits limp mode.

all you have is a generic remap... but it's the source of the map that you must find out.
words like "reputable, german, tuv" all mean BS, and they've just downloaded it for £50 off the internet...
if they're truly custom mapping it (and you can tell they're not) they'd have stopped immediately upon finding out that the maf or map sensors are faulty.... otherwise how would they measure fuelling or boost?
sit them down & tell them it's honesty time, or you'd like your cash back (then take it to someone that knows rather than guessing)

I had a custom map done and then problems like i have explained started to raise, so they then loaded a generic map on which was lower boost and worked fine on 100's of cars they have done. they are now writing a new map for my car, with the over boost problem in mind. They think its the car as well but are helping me trying to diagnose the fault.
Well the car is staying in the garage over the weekend to have the turbo and other bits checked. Then its going back to the tuners on Monday to have the new map loaded. I just hope its not the turbo! The car has started to become very smoky lately

the temps arent the issue.
Mine used to go into limp mode with excessive intake temps, that was on 30 degree+ days and 95degree intake temps.
Yours will be overboosting, mine also did this when it was first mapped, it was a CC map, the map was tweaked to produce lower boost and job done. no more limp mode.

Got my car back from the garage yesterday after them checking out the turbo. No fault found ! It also went back to the tuners for a new map, which in turn didnt fix the fault. The garage said that the next step would be to replace the MAF! From the images of my boost curv you can see that 3rd gear looks normal but in 4th is all over the show. Could this be due to MAF? Because it feels so slow on the motor way when platting your foor at around 2k rpm

After I fitted a new MAF and MAP sensor with no joy, I decided to rip the car to bits! I removed the egr system, intake manifold, exhaust manifold (with turbo), intercooler and all hoses! Took about 6 hours.
The EGR valve and intake manifold were both gunked up to hell. Cleaned them all through with gunk cleaner and Mr Muscle oven cleaner. The intercooler and pipes were cleaned with gunk agian. The turbo was sent to a turbo specialist to be checked and cleaned.
When cleaning the EGR valve I damage the egr vacuum actuator seals and now it will not operate! But i happy with that because it will never clog up with gunk again. Also i didn't get any warning lights with the EGR not working.
