So I gave in and stumped up the £70 that Seat wanted for a tiny lead to connect my iPod to the car and give me steering wheel control over it.

Only thing is, sometimes the music comes through really quiet and distorted or it wont load up the iPod data. It does work intermittently which makes me think it may not be a cable issue.

Has anyone else had their pants pulled down for Seats most profitable aftermarket accessory? If so, do you have any issues with it?
 
I believe I read on here about just such quiet/distorted issues with the CUP interface, for which a technical bulletin has been issued (i.e. dealer technicians should be able to fix this for you under warranty, if you're still covered under warranty).

Luckily it is still under warranty so I better get onto them.
 
No its the one that sits under the radio and plugs into a aux/usb connector. (Facelift 2009 model).

Is there any difference between this and the cheapo leads you can get off ebay?
With my cheapo one, not noticed a volume issue. But the interface is shocking.
If I want to choose, for example, The Killers from the artist list, I have to use the dial on the radio to scroll through the artists. It takes ages to get to 'T'. Can use the steering wheel controls for most things though.
 
it will be the aux port thats broke.

mine didnt work correctly and the garage replaced it under warranty.

common fault aparantly
 
PeteW - any chance you can give details of connection as i want to get my ipod working with my Toledo(03 plate),regardless of interface,I WANT MY MUSIC ;-(

Happy to help if I can. Not sure I understand the question :confused:
The cable plugs into the ipod at one end (obviously) and has 2 leads at the other. These connect to the AUX and USB sockets in my Cupra.
Does that answer your query?

I'm guessing in an 03 plate you might have a tape player? If so, just buy one of those cassette adapter things from Maplins or similar. In my Golf, I used to get acceptable sound quality from one of those if I adjusted the levels carefully. Certainly much better quality than any of the umpteen FM transmitters that I tried beforehand.
If your car has an AUX (3.5mm jack) input, just get a male-to-male 3.5mm jack lead and use that.

I got a cheapo cable from Ebay which works most of the time but I have come across both problems you mention.

This fixed the distortion issue for me but I'm not sure you have the same radio as me. I have a 2010 Cupra. Whilst you're listening to the iPod press the MENU button and you should see an option called AUX-VOL. There are three settings in there. If I have mine on Level III the music is distorted and Level I is too quiet. Level II is pretty much spot on.

I also get device errors from time to time. I just disconnect the iPod and reconnect it. I put this down to my ancient iPod as this doesn't happen with my iPhone 4.

Cool, thanks for the info. I now have a consistent problem that the focal part of the songs all comes out of the drivers door only. The other 3 speakers play background noise only???

Gonna take it to Seat to try another lead or find the issue with this one.

Sorry for late rep
Doesn't really help but back to basics ;-) My Toledo is with Aura CD with changer, so as far as i know AUX and USB ruled out, had an FM transmitter - it's dog's b.......:) Sounds like coming from my neighbor house-not from stereo :-( I just wander if Dension is my only choice or there's someone here who got connected by simple means like soldering wiring or something - sounds daft but honestly want music only.

Well taken the car and lead to Seat to have a look at. So far the technician has said he can't hear the difference/problem. Guess he needs to turn his hearing aid up!

I thought it would be rude not to get the car Revo'd at the same time! But they say it's going to take a few hours to download and install the software, when I used to remap it would take max 1.5 hours to upload/download!
 
I've got a 9 quid e-bay lead and it works a treat!! Can only pick the albums from the h-unit but gives all text detail on the screen and is much cheaper!!
 
I said stuff SEAT and Bought a BMW one off ebay for £20 works perfect all info comes up on MFD and on Media system tracks artists albums folders etc and works off steering wheel controls

Only thing it won't do is go back a track :)
 
Hmmm, well they tried a new lead, no joy. So they have diagnosed it as a faulty speaker. I don't agree as it works fine with cd and radio.... But gonna let them fit a replacement on Saturday to see if it makes any difference.
