Got my Connects2 box today. Was originally planning to buy a full-blown iPod some time ago so I was looking at the Dension kit. Changed my mind and bought a Shuffle in the end so this suits perfectly (no dock connector on the Shuffle). So much neater than one of those tape-adaptor things.

Considering cutting the mini jack plug off the lead and wiring it to a mini jack socket sited somewhere subtle. Then when I'm not using the iPod there's no dangling wire.

Now, to find an in-car USB charger...

OK, so I probably should have read post #5 a bit more closely. I have a Connects2 box, a lead that plugs into the box and a plug on the other end of the lead that doesn't match anything I can find behind the HU. Are you saying they supply the wrong lead, or there's an additional lead required?

Also liking the professional job the guy did installing the Parrot CK3000 last year - bare wires left dangling loose :thumbd:

Sounds like you dont have the right one to me. If its an Aura specific one then it shouldnt need an adapter. Try connects2 email support, they answered me really quickly about my unit for my Sony HU.

http://www.connects2.com/c2Contact.asp

The leads you should have are one that used to goto the CD changer and an RCA lead with 2x compsite connectors. The cable from the CD changer to HU should be changed for the one supplied with the Connects2 unit to goto that instead.

Look carefully at the picture with the leads and HU on my seat. Problem is the

Connects2 box comes with a cable (the black plugged one)which the end fits on the CD Changer cable and not straight into the back of the HU.

I had a spare cable(red plugged one) which fitted from an Audi HU to my Connects2on my last car.

Essentially what you need is the SEAT CD changer lead if your car hasn't got a CD Changer fitted!

A dumb question, but if someone could put me straight... :)

Just putting the dension in. It says I need to connect the black wire to an earthing point, and indicates that most HU have a tab on the back for this purpose.

My question is... with Aura, is there an earthing point and how do I physically connect the wire? Do I solder it or... ?

TIA

That'll be what the big screw thread with the rubber cap over it is, is for!

Ahh, so if I pull the changer out and unplug the cable from the back of it, the plug should fit the Connects2 lead?

Easy when you know what you're doing.

Job done, found a spot behind the changer for the Connects2 box and passed the audio cable back out. Refitted the changer and trim and we have a result. 2 minute job.

Now, if only they made iPod Shuffles in black...

With the Connects2 can anyone tell me if you can hide the ipod the glove compartment and control it from the standard head unit. From what I can gather you can do this with the IceLink although with limited functions, I think that CD 1 to 5 act as the first five playlists and you can access the tracks in eack playlist by the next/previous track buttons. Can anyone confirm if this is correct

The Connects2 is half the price of the IceLink but may be no use to me because I do not want the ipod on show.

If you have the standard HU then the Connects2 Aux in adapter is just that....an Aux in.

They do do adapters for other HU like Sony where you can control the IPOD but mine just sends the sound signal through the HU CD Changer function and No more.

The one thing that has been putting me off hardwiring my ipod to the hu instead of using a fm modualtor has been the loss of my CD changer, which is useful to have for short journeys etc. Have I read this right the only way to have both is to change the hu to something like the Sony.

No...any aux-in using the connects2 boxes replaces the CD autochanger. However, some manufacturers make additional boxes which allow you to use multiple CD Autochangers to the one HU but I am not sure if it would work in this instance

The beauty of the ipod and other hard drive based MP3 players is that it becomes your 'cd changer' with all you music at once.:D

has anyone seen one of these before?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=75523&item=5793457525&rd=1

a friend of mine has got one, and it is class. any CD/mp3/MD player can be transmitted via radio waves and you tune in your car stereo to the specified signal.

it also works with home audio, too. great for house parties with stereos in each room.

Have another read at the beginning of the thread. I came from having an FM modulator as you describe and the quality of sound is crap compared to hardwiring through the Connects2 box.

Agree that it is good to send signals throughout the home though....unless you have a wireless network like me;)
