Irremovable babies handprint on bonnet?!

So I've had my Ibiza for just over a year, and in the summer I noticed on the bonnet, just above the passenger side light, a small white handprint, like that of a babies. I've washed the car a few times, however it's still there as sharply as ever.

Any ideas in solving this mysterious case?

Strange, can you feel it or is it under the laquer on the paint?

Something like Autoglym Paint renovator may take it out or try a tar remover which would possibly work.

It really depends on what it is and how it got there.

If bodyclean or tar remover wont rub it off :

T-Cut would be my first choice for trying to remove it.

Try claying it.....

Should lift any dirt or grease/contaminant

Other than that flat and polish at a body shop....should just cost a bung

i heard about using brasso. takes off the wax layers etc. ive got a few handprints on my pathfinder when I & kids had been on the beach and had sun tan lotions on our hands. - brand new car then too!! havnt had the nerve to try the brasso thing but im assured it works - you will need to reapply laquer/wax after

Dont scrub!

Try clean the car using fairly liquid as the shampoo, that should take the hand print off. It will also remove any wax or sealant on the paint work. So if you do use the fairly liquid then you need to polish the car, seal it and wax it again.

Alternatively you could try using clay as mentioned above or using a paint cleaner (AutoGlym Intensive Tar Remover is good)

Ive got a thumb print on the bumper which i put there when i touched it with Waxoyl on my hands.

I guess clay or petrol might shift it but go carefull.

Washing up liquid contains salt as an abrasive - be careful.

I would try white spirit/tar remover first. Then a cutting polish like megs scratch x or similar.

Do not use anything abrasive, or any chemicals that are not paint safe.

Yup, absolutely fine mate. You will want to wash the car and re apply any wax once you have used it though.

White spirit paint safe then?

Yep, white spirit is fine on the water based paint on your car. Actually it's also fine on the oil based paint on your living room door as long as the paint is fully dry.

White spirit is a mixture of a light oil and a weak solvent, this is why it's good at cleaning brushes that have wet oil based paint on them.

White spirit will safely remove sticky stuff from the paint on your car but it will leave an oily residue that will come off with normal car shampoo and warm water.

I used white spirit when I got a tiny speck of paint on my bonnet when I sprayed my wheels. No idea how it got there but nothing else would remove it and I was bricking it that I would end up with a big white mark or something lol
