.. You've got a heavy load in the car every day. For the next couple of weeks I'm taking a few work collegues into work. Average weight is about 13 stone so about 52 stone all together. Got weitec coilovers on. Just wondering if it's doin the shocks or springs any damage or reducing their life? Am driving really carefully coz think my alignment is out too coz of taking off the console to replace the bushes.

Been driving about with a massive weight on the back wheels since end of january, done no harm at all, except speed and mpg as said before!

maybe put more air in your tyres? Have a look inside the fuel cap, it tells you what pressures to run with fully loaded car :p

nobody has mentioned extra weight changes your stopping distance making the pads wear quicker as theres more to stop and extra clutch wear too.
although these cars are made to be able to have 5 people in it still adds to wear on the above but not so much that you have to worry really.

No one has given the correct answer, tell them to take the bus! Anyway, with the fuel money they will be giving you, you will be able to buy new brakes and clutch parts!

I remember providing the car to take my wife and me plus another couple to some "thing" about 150 miles away, they split the cost - of a bridge crossing - seems my car was meant to run on air!

Its not really bad for your car no.

Inflate your tyres to the higher pressure, make sure you leave more stopping distance and dont ride the clutch on hills, at junctions etc, you shouldnt anyway but with more weight on board it will wear rapidly.

With that in mind, it will be fine :)

Thanks for the responses people. Will inflate the Tyres. No hills and don't brake hard so should be ok. :)
