Is there much required to get a normal ST to the power output of an RS? The ST looks brill, but i quite like the subtlety of the ST. Plus the ST is cheaper, I’m thinking second hand...but then as mentioned here already, its the fuel consumption that'll be my bug bear. I just want a fast turbo charged car that's as smooth as silk and doesn't try to break me when going over speed bumps or pebbles in the road.
I've been thinking of the RS too, ran an insurance quote and it came out the same price as my cupra did at renewal 6 months ago!! Maybe its coming down a little, I don't know but if I can live with the reduced mpg I might just do it.
Don't reckon its cheap to get an ST upto the RS's output, not sure its possible with the turbo thats on the ST.
I'm thinking of going this route. After selling my MK1 Cupra R. Can get a 60 plate ST with little mileage for 14K ish. Spend 5-7K on mods and can easily acheive around 340-350 bhp /400 ft-lb torque. That's with an LSD, springs, map, hybrid turbo, exhaust, wheels even, silicone hoses etc...

Yeah a top spec RS that is standard. You'd then mod it probably and spend how much? They may be holding value now but in a few years they will come down. I'd rather own a high spec subtle ST than a lairy RS![]()
I would sooner have a Cupra and enjoy watching the ST disappear out the rear view mirror![]()
Yeah and a decent Cupra is what 16K then how much spent on mods to get it to 360 bhp.

Mine has all Stage 2+ mods already (supposed to be 360bhp but I only managed 330bhp on a roller near us - was a hot day and heatsoaked to f***) and I only want £16k for mine! You can get a standard one from a SEAT dealership for £15k...
Yours doesn't have an uprated intercooler though, right? Therefore not a proper S2+ car?
