is my turbo broke? :(

been out in the car tonight and noticed it giving out quite a large amount of blue smoke, and noticed a smell too.

car doesnt seem very fast or seem to be running properly lately, not sure whats up

its a 2001 cupra btw

can anyone help?

oil light isnt on, topped oil up a few weeks ago

Check your boost pipes for oil, there shouldnt be any in there.

as brendy says , take the boost hose of the turbo - one that goes to intercooler , if theres oil there , itll be a shaft seal thats gone , new turbo time

about 150 quid from a good breakers

If there is oil in the airways its coming through the turbo, if it is id rather it be the turbo oil seals gone rather than something more sinister.
Is the turbo making funny noises? either on part or full boost?

not really any noises, just whistles quite loud as of late

is there any indications of the turbo been broken? apart from oil in boost pipes

you can manually remove the pipes off the turbo (do it when cold!) and look for any play or damage to the wheel.

yeah i do aswell, i have been told a little oil is not a problem, but anymore than that could be a seal etc

Double check your dipstick (while the engine is stone cold) as it may have a little to much oil in.

well checked the boost pipes, and as ninja and chris said, it has a little oil in, but nothing serious.

my mate whos a mechanic said last night that my turbo looked poorly, but obv not the seals.

anything else i can check?

Noticed this last night when you were at Tpark for the NEMM cruise mate, quite alot of smoke coming from the exhaust but didnt look blue to me

Aye i saw you there, quite annoying when your at a cruise and your cars giving out so much crap lol, just felt like going home.

Not sure what colour it was, any ideas wht it could be?
