Is Vag com killing my laptop?

I have just this minute received my Vag Com interface direct from Ross tech in USA, and followed the online instructions to install drivers etc.
All goes ok untill i try to do the first task, which is set the correct port.
Its a USB key, so i start off testing the ports (just incase) and none detect it, so my last option is the one that should work. USB
I select it, press TEST and......... laptop informs me of a very large warning and i only get the first line (something like "serious problems, must shut down....) and then i get the blue screen of death before a full restart.
I taki it this isn't right??
I'm about to un-install, so if anyone has any tips, i'll check back in a short while before i do a re-install.

Panic over guys.
I think i may have installed the drivers before installing the software, and that caused the problem.
When i un-installed it all, then re-installed the software, then put the lead in and searched for the drivers, all was well.
Been out and had a fiddle and it seems pretty good, but it's tricky finding what your after, so i need to get the battery recharged and have another play around.
