I would never paint my spare, I use mine as a 'safety net' when the car is jacked. Also u gotta run the same tyre on the spare as the ones u are currently running, and mine are Contis and the spare is a Pirelli (from factory) lol so highly illegal as the rubber is now 7 years old!!! Noooo

Great day out at AmD, nice to catch up with everyone. The highlight of the day was definitely a drive in james' BT LCR, that thing is absolutely ballistic. A true supercar chaser. Also got a ride with jay and maz, both of which are also very impressive machines. thanks for the ride guys, much appreciated.

Got some videos of james' LCR on the dyno, will post them at some point.

Rather pleased I got mine on the dyno early as heat soak was an issue later in the day. She made 279bhp and 315lb/ft, so a healthy jump since fitting the B5 TIP and miltek cat back. Well chuffed tbh. Can't wait to get the stage 2 finally done. :D

Big thanks to Darren for organising yet another great day out, looking forward to players now. :)

Who told you that ?
The age and make of a tyre in irrelevant as long as it has no crack's or buldges and the tread is above the legal minimum.

Exactly....

Brett there is nothing wrong with a painted spare. I have a full set and the tyre is a Pirelli but I run toyo's. This is no issue at all and the main thing is the tread is all good.

James, great to see you again mate. Car looks better everytime I see it. You're doing well and I was impressed with the wheels. Lovely finish. Well done.

Roll on Players :D

Lol never said there is anything bad about painting a spare. I gave MY use for what I use mine for if (most people don't have axle stands)......

There is no point having a Pirelli on front nearside with a conti on front offside. The whole point of tyres is to dissipate water and if both a lea have the same tyre it well help grip more!

Ok at least 2 engineers who fitted my tyres told me AND Alex at AKS that ALL tyres have a lifespan. Cos if you a tually look at the tyre wall it should say the year it was made. How I know this? My 2 old rear ones were beginning to crack after 3 or so years, and so I was warned to change them. They DO crack due to age?!

I don't just pluck these things from the air, I listen to any advice given to me, and I certainly won't be disbelieving them. Of course a tyre isn't gonna age as dramatically in a boot as on a car....

Your right they do have a production date stamped on them but it is not illegal to run one that is over a certain age.

Mixing tyres is fine as my spare will only go on for a short term period if it's needed to. I would never run a mix of tyre for a long time but I'd want it to look the same finish :)

Tyres crack usually if the car has been driving on a slightly under inflated or flat tyre for even a short amount of time.....some people then pump up the tyre or get the tyre repaired thinking its fixed
