it really doesn't matter that much imo, I'm getting rid of the k&n because the oil can naff up the maf sensor apparently and I'm going to go for an induction/cai when i get the cash

neither will really give you any more power and in fact an induction kit will more than likely loose you power but if your after a nice engine note and a dv flutter then induction is the way to go, panel filters will always be quieter

green or piper i would say :)

looking by the pics most people seem to prefer cone type or cold intakes rather than the standard panel replacement... anyway who cares what everyone else wants its your car lol:D

no worries dude:D, anything except k&n because I have one I'm such a bag of contradictions lol I've had both panel and cone on my old audi quattro, green cotton are good never used on in a turbo car so cant comment on the spool up noise

I dont think you can go wrong with anything really :)

if you want power and performance change to cone filter

if your want oem look and better performance than stock green pannel cotton filter

changing mine from green cotton shortly to jetex cone filter tbh

do you think cone filters give more power? when I was on the audi forum they would smite you down for fitting a cone due to them sucking in lots of hot air

I never really felt a difference from panel to cone, cone sounded faster and the dv whoosh sound was a nice touch without sounding like a massive chav.

I was surprised how many people on here go down the induction kit route.. don't get me wrong love a nice induction kit :)

IMO no i dont think cones improve power infact i think they slow the car down unless using a heat shield. enclosed inductions work ie vipers, cda etc i dont want loud roars etc. been there done that and its not for me anymore

I would say cone filters are the way forward i don't normally rate them but they do improve power perhaps not always torque figures, just look in reader rides on here look at t0m and coops10 cupra r's one a 210 and the other a 225 both running 300bhp/304bhp with AMD stage 2 map both using jetex cone filters, im running a green cotton pannel filter with the same AMD stage 2 map same full miltek exhaust system, same FMIC etc and my restrictive pannel filter is holding me back figures wise coops10 runs with with a cold air feed, t0ms does not IMO I would say that compared to a pannel filter the results speak for themselves, ideally yes a heat shield should be fitted this a must im changing mine out ASAP and getting a jabba sport heat shield ordered at the same time to switching to a large jetex cone filter, im not interested in noise either im after better performance

getting mine back on the rollers again very soon, so will be able to see the difference between the two

oh yea thats what i said. fair enough if you have a heat shield if not watch your cars power drop as the hot airs sucking through

Dont get too hung up comparing RR runs between a cone and an airbox, on he RR they run the car with the bonnet up so it's going to be getting a lot more air feed to it than if it was on the road, An airbox will get an airflow closer to what it would get on the road.
Also mine made 280BHP & 315LB/FT at the RR day we had last week and that was with a modded airbox.

Yeah i was thinking that DK im still not a fan of the open cone setup, very interested in what your going to do with yours i still want enclosed induction really the badge5 TIP does that fit the same way a cone filter would you just had to trim yours to fit the airbox? im wondering weather to just get the TIP and connect it up to my standard box, or get the cone filter long term with heat shield, i know your planning on doing something with an Audi S3 airbox and the jetex? how did yours run on the day, new TIP jetex with air intake from the pannel filter still connected?
