Hello,

Currently doing a K04 conversion into a mk4 golf. Got all my bits but have a DP question.

I have a downpipe that has been made from a leon cupra r downpipe. Its been welded into one complete 2.25" pipe, instead of the usual twin pipe setup.

Looks like the pipe is 3" then reduces to 2.25" within the sharp initial bend of the pipe.

Will this downpipe flow enough air on a remapped 1.8T (circa 265-280bhp)? Bare in mind i can weld a flanged decat pipe onto the end of the DP and mate with the milltek r32 style exhaust thats currently on the car....

I was assuming it will flow just fine, considering the std cupra,s3,TT downpipe is only 2.25 inches? But im unsure?.......

Thanks

if its in front of you and you can weld it, I would go 3" if bothering to mod it at all personally.

if it helps  on my k04 bam engine, i ran a 2.5 inch d/p and made 278bhp and 288 lb/ft with a custom MRC map = no cat, fmic, 2.5 inch system with 1 silencer

he says his is 2.25" so smaller again than yours

I ran 340bhp thru my first IHI maxed out thru a 2.5" DP.. did'nt mean it was the right size, as 3" one made more flow.

it came with a bunch of stuff i bought a while back. although i'm going to have to get the decat section welded on if im gonna use it. if i can get hold of a blueflame leon cupra r downpipe /decat it will fit just fine, but i just wanted to see if the 2.25" would do the job before shelling out another 300 quid. Unless anyone knows someone who can make a custom effort cheaper than 300 notes?

possibly a good shout, can you shoot me some pics to [email protected] please?

i'll have a look. from memory on the ibiza there is something in the way that means the leon blueflame wont fit, now if that bend means it hangs lower rather than going around the obstruction it should be fine, but i'd need to see pics first to confirm.

thanks a lot
