So taken delivery of new Cupra. All paperwork good, all signed up and then dealer says they can't find my second key!

They think it's been lost in the mix with all the other new keys and so will forward on.

Update now says key hasn't turned up and so they are offering to get my local dealer to provide me with a second key.

My thoughts are I need two new keys, car recoding and two new lock barrels to ensure that the lost key is unusable on my car.

Advice please Cupra.net gang........

The key you have can be copied on to a new key blank

Then the dealer will need to code the cut key to your ecu.

During the coding - any key not present will be wiped from the cars memory

No need for new locks.

Chers for the replies- just worried that the old key will still work the hidden barrels- although I get the immobiliser wouldn't work.

Just trying to cover off any insurance issues.

Pics to follow, I'm Monsoon 280 with the rarely spotted standard wheels......

I had the exact same issue with mine, took my dealer a couple of months to finally get my second key ordered and coded up.

If you lose a key and your insurance has key cover - all they will do is have a key cut and coded to the car.
They won't go to the expense of having locks replaced on a car.

It's just I don't want the insurance to void as there's a key out there that will open my car- ok it won't start the car if mine current key and new one are recoded but if items are stolen from the car using the key to get in could I claim or is if a loophole my insurance could exploit?
