Well I fitted my offical 'feel' chargepipe at the weekend along with the DV I got from phil (empi5) at Inters the other week.

The DV went on Ok once I'd managed to get those damned clips off! I ended up removing the DV with and the pipe between it and the charge pipe to get the final one off.

The charge pipe went on easily enough. Tightened everything up nice and tight all seems fine.

I have however had the hose from the pipe to the intercooler blow off twice so far when pushing hard. The intercooler pipe and the clip I'm using are still OE but I have the hose right on and the clip very tight.

I'm wondering if the OE hose just dosen't stick to the replacement pipe very well? The original pipe has ridges formed in it for the clip to rest in to hold it on well.

Any pointers as to where I'm going wrong?

Also is the pipe blowing off at speed going to cause any problems with anything else as I don't want to inadvertantly damage anything else...

It would better if the charge pipe had beads rolled in the end to help hold the jubilee in place, but it's not really doable.

Everyone seems fine with better clips (sometimes two) on that end of the pipe. Have you got the standard hose or a silicon replacement, that usually helps.

Also, I thought on the way home that I didn't give you any clips with your pipe, I normally include some JCS hi-torque replacements, as they're much better.

PM me your address and I'll send you some.

Pm on the way Phil ;)

I do just have the original hose on there which I guess dosen't really help... Looks like that's another £100 I need to spend. :) I should have got some of them from Forge at Inters and would have saved myself a fortune!

Seems to be a little more noise from the turbo now :) What sort of sound is 'right' from it? Just want to be sure nothing is leaking anywhere - although it's not from what I can see.

There's a dath vadery/star ship energiser type noise that you get (a bit like the noie that Vicky makes when she snores ;) ) - that's fine,

If you get a small boost leak it sounds like a high pitched whine/whistle (a bit like the whining noise Mr C makes with Hayfever ;) )

A big boost leak sounds just like you would expect, lots of rushing air. But the engine light will come on/the car will stall :D

Cool - there's just a rushing noise as it comes onto boost that's a little louder than it was before - a nice noise indedd but just wanted to make sure it was right.

I almost poo'd my pants when the hose popped off accelerating hard at ~70 in the outside lane of a dual carrageway. I pulled the car out of gear revs fluctuated between 0 - 800 and then it died... NO power steering or breaks it a bit scary at that speed :)

When I finally rolled to a hault there was a fairly eggy smell - catalystish smell - which was a little worrying!

You can just imagine the expressionon Vickys face! had to put it back on and sort tightening the clip again with half a broken key! lol

It was your scarey red eyes that were most worrying.

Jim - make sure the end of the pipe and inside of the hose are clean and oil free (ish) as well.

Yeah - I bet the inside of the windscreen took some cleaning!

When the pip blew off it did think that Phil might have hidden in the bonnet for a minute. That was until I was distracted by Vickys outburst!

I did clean the grease off the pipe work. I won't need to drive it really over the next few days so will go over everything again when I put the replacement clips on.

They look pretty handy! 'Dual bead' does that mean there are two layers to the ring of the clip that pull each other?

I don't like the sound of turbo over speeding!
