I do 80 miles a day round trip on motorway. Am thinking about getting a LCR but just wondered what I could expect on a motorway run in 6th gear..sort of average...am I going to hit 35 mpg or less or could I get more......the main reason for the consideration is simply the cost of fuel!!

Ta.

Getting to the motorway probably around 27mpg or less if you have a lead foot... Once on the run they are suprising economical if you keep below 80mph. If you want better economy go for a Cupra or cupra diesel. My last Leon Cupra was far better on economy than my current LCR, managed over 400miles per tank on long runs, LCR is more like 330-350 miles a tank.

Bit of a waste of time buying a 225bhp car and aiming for 35mpg ain't it?

Drive it and enjoy the power and expect to get 28 - 30mpg.

Yes and no...I want the car to have fun with but I need to commute to work and so if I can get something tidy out of it when I need to and the rest of the time I couldnt care less...but I take your point. I want the moon on a stick.

To everyone else - thanks for your replies...very helpful.

if the fuel is the big issue id say get a leon cupra tdi.
supprisingly quick. if you get one of the last ones they even look like a LCR!

as for MPG, id say you are doing well if you get 30 mpg, that will be 350miles or so for a tankfull based on 53 litres. (so thats fillin up shortly after the light comes on)
not many people get 350 to a tank.. although i do ;)
28 is pretty average for most.
you can get 35, but you really have to try very hard.

As mention on a steady run on a motorway at around 80mph I get just over 30mpg, but normally I nail it everywhere so get between 20-25mpg, then again mine ReVo'd so needs a good spanking every now and then. :)

I've never had over 33mpg and that's with some serious coasting.

Usual average is about 25 - 30 with round town driving.

When it was standard 28-30 ave mpg

As soon as you go above 80 on the motorway it starts dropping in my experience

Now Revo Stg 2 and fuel economy's actually gone up, geddin! Had best ever of 37 mpg recently and wasn't hanging about for some of it

I agree with TallPaul. What's the point of getting an LCR and wanting good fuel economy.

Get your foot down, enjoy yourself and leave the trip comp on average speed and get it as high as you can.

Of course obeying all speed limits in the process and not getting your picture taken ;)

I wouldnt get a 225 if i did 80 a day, i will be doing 50 a day and i got the tdi instead. Realistically you arent goign to see 35mpg unless you tott along at 60 behind a truck, looking at 30-32 real world.

I do about 60 miles a day for work, I usually get about 33-35mpg for my commute (while use a lead foot getting TO work !!!!) the weekends usually see the the display hit between 28-31mpg... thats where the fun is.

If you can afford it, get the LCR, you would regret buying the Cupra or diesel.

'Bout what I get. On the way home if I drive very carefully I can get just over 35mpg. If I drive like an idiot I get 25mpg.
Thats on a mixture of A roads, B roads and dual carriageway with several lights and roundabouts thrown in.

I get on average 285miles per tank. I havnt had the car long and since owning it ive had it chipped so the right foot does tend to be used a lot more than noermal. Oh, and mine is an '05

I also do a lot of business mileage. On a motorway cruise @ 70mph I get anywhere between 37 minumum and 41 on average. It aint a bad cruiser. Obviously when I am not using it for business miles, I use the 225 horses available and they like a drink. But seriously, I cannot grumble at all at the performance and consumption... she's mint!

I usually get an average of 18mpg:cry: , but that's commuting in traffic into the town centre then out again.
I did an 800mile round trip to cornwall last year with the cruise set to 70mph and it returned 35mpg
So it depends on how you drive it and what the traffic is like, but even if the TDi gave me 3 times the fuel economy, I'd still take the LCR everytime!!

I find it near on impossible to hold it anything like 70 when crusing... really need cruise control!
