if i drive like a granny then i can just get 33mpg. but avg normally is about 24 ish.... but ive had the avg down to 10mpg lol!

I had the very same problem when it came to getting a LCR or a TDI! I do ALOT of miles...ALOT! The TDI would have made much more sense... but its a DIESEL, sounds like a bag of bolts when you start it up and sitting in traffic, clutch feels like a block of cheese and its not a LRC, even if you get one of the last, its still a pretender! You will always hanker after a LRC when you see one! That said, it goes ALOT further on a tank of fuel... but diesel prices are going to rocket more than petrol!

I know how you feel about the cost of fuel playin a major part in your choice... But get a LRC...you can always trade it in for a TDI if its costing too much.

To answer your question tho... I do a 60mile round trip a day and at the weekend 300 mile round trip, so i think im well placed to give you an honest view... I can get 35mpg during the week...the weekend run I've had the mpg reading at 38 with speeds between 70-80mph. Now if you ask me, that aint too bad for a 225bhp car! but put your foot down hard, and you dont want to know!

Buy a LCR, if you dont, you will regret it! ;-)

I usually get between 330-380miles per tank. Best has been 480miles on one tank. I have done 44k miles in mine in 17months and have enjoyed them all. Worst i had was 95miles to a tank - on the nurburgring!

Mate

How the hell did you get it down to 10mpg!!! :ban:

I was on track in mine recently and doing over 100 miles on it got 17!

there looking at the fuel computer, its not accurate in anyway, the only real way is to fill your tank up reset milage, use all / most of the fuel and then fill back up again remember how many litres it takes to fill it up and convert that to gallons then divide the gallons into the milage you have done,
my lcr gets a thrash now and again , missus drives it in the week, and i get around 29mpg when i work it out this way, normally less if i have had the car out alot i might get down to 27ish, but my trip computer can read anywhere between 25mpg and 34mpg, obviosly if i boot it and look at the real time fuel cosumption figure it will go down to 5 or even 1, but i know full well what its actually getting so it means nothing to be honest

I was driving it as hard as it would go...... got it down to 8min 45secs which i thought wasnt bad for only having done 6 laps.... brakes and tyres were knackered after though.

cant remember what the computer said...that was the actual mileage and the gauge was just above 0 and no more

I have never seen over 30mpg in my LCR no matter were im driving, i think its an addictive car so find it hard not to got fast in it. If your after Leon for motorway i agree with most on here , just get a FR TDI with LCR body kit on and revo it !

***STOP PRESS***

My MPG reading was 40mpg over the weekend while driving down the M11... thats doing 70-80! Done some sums and its about right too!!!!

Im very happy with that! :)

if you go easy on them and dont harsh accelarate (sp) they are good!! think thats what downs the economy harsh acceleration and top speeds!! otherwise cant argue there!!

if you are worrying about fuel consumption, you aint having any fun out of your car, buy one of those dinky wee smart fortwo's or something, mental performance and fuel economy do not make good partners i'm afraid. not trying to be negative either as i'm on a tight budget myself, all i'm saying is if fuel economy's a priority then don't buy an lcr, cos economical they aint, bury that excellerator and watch the needle head south. feckin good fun though mate.

I only tend to do short trips in my 225. And I tend to be a little heavy on the gas pedal too! I get about 21 M/G!

Yip Im the same exceot i average around 26MPG. Dont it make you sick. But hey its fun.:p

The absolute best way to enjoy a LCR is on a company fuel card.

Mate if your doing round trip of 80 miles a day your gonna be over £50 a week
or £216 a month. Which is a massive £2600 a year.

go on get one and repent at your leisure, like the rest of us.

***STOP PRESS (AGAIN)***

Im currently driving around in my Seat dealers 06 Leon 1.6 demo car while mine LCR is being fixed (hopefully!) and to my horror this thing is hardly any better then my LCR! Its a 60mile round trip to work each day, so far this week I've put £25 in it, only picked it up monday mornin!!! Ok, so I've been driving a little harder, but com'on!

BUY A LCR...YOU WONT REGRET IT! Plus think of all those crappy gifts you can get with your Shell Points card!!!!

I've seen as low as 16mpg and have yet to see any higher than 25mpg.

I spend more than i imagined i would on petrol (i.e. after reading up about people's mpg estimates of 30mpg before buying my car i thought it would be slightly better on mileage) I haven't managed 30mpg once yet on a motorway run.

As for people getting 40mpg that's some achievement - i couldn't get that in my old tdi mondeo! I find it hard to own a LCR and drive it off boost, within reason.

It's a lot easier to get closer to 20mpg in a LCR, than is is to get 30mpg from my experience.

I use the "miles left in the tank" clock. i get 260ish usually.

Although i do similar mileage to you, and DO spend a lot on petrol I would definitely recommend one ;)

when i fill up and look at the estimated mileage on the computer, it can vary between 350 and 450 miles which is quite accurate depending on my driving and destinations.

However when the petrol warning light sounds and comes on, the 50 miles drop like no business!!! I drove home from work the other day (18 miles) with it indicating zero miles left. When I got to the petrol station near home I filled up and fitted 55.1 litres in the 55 litre tank - I think I was about to run out!! How lucky was that!!

I cannot fault the consumption of my LCR225 at all, I think you get good ones and bad ones, consumption wise and mine is deffinitely a good en! Not lacking in performance either, with plenty on tap when I am not doing business mileage!
