Guys & Gals,

With deep regret came the time to hand over the reigns to the new proud owner of my beloved LCR. Car sold last weekend and I saw it drive out of my road I thought to myself 'Damn, that's a good looking car'

Honestly guys you have all been like a rock, this website and all who subscribe to her and its admin team have been great. Long live SEATCUPRA.net. I will not forget all the help and advice I have got from using this website and I most certainly will miss my LCR.

Last night I picked up an old 1.6 Golf Auto to get around in, with a promise to myself that I hope in a few years to step back into a SEAT cupra.

Living in London I thought I would get something Auto and perhaps in a few years, if finances allow, pick up a Leon DSG. In the meantime all the best and keep on talking, keep seatcupra.net alive :rolleyes:
 
I know the feeling well of seeing someone else driving off in your pride and joy. It is somewhat offset by having a large wodge of cash in your pocket though ;)
 
The way I feel about mine at the moment I might just give mine to you. Ive not felt any love for this motor whatsoever.
 
how have you not felt any love for your motor, you must be mad lol

I had a mk3 golf 8v GTI before...did 120k miles in it. Sold it and it was still a fantastic car (discounting all the mk3 flaws like being underpowered etc). As the car goes it was trouble free over its life and drove like a dream.

I went for an LCR because it was/is essentially a MK4 glf GTI with some tweaks.

Bought mine with 3k on the clk, second owner. Since then all Ive had is problems.
Various niggles with everything sounding like the interior is falling to bits.

The list so far.

1) Just about every bit or rear trim replaced.
2) N75 valve replaced
3) split hoses replaced (after around 7k)
4) Window Regulator replaced
5) o/s/f top mount replaced
6) o/s/f bearing replaced
7) rear bushes replaced (still creaks and squeeks)

..the list could go on but theres been so much I cant remember it all...

The build quality on the inners is poor - the thing shakes and vibrates over every little piece of road.

At the moment Ive had the o/s/f bearing replaced for a bearing like noise which hasnt resolved the issue. So dealer reckons the discs are the problem?? done 27k and I know some will have eaten discs but trust me I dont brake hard and they are no where near in need of replacement (delear acknowledged this)..but there *could* be inpurities in the disc metal.....apparantely.

Pretty sure the door is leaking as well but just getting to the point of confirming that...looks like thats letting water in.....

..last of all...is it really exciting to drive...is it fast....no not really.

I spent the most amount Ive ever spent on a car on this puppy and I cant say its given me any real joy...just about 20 (so far) visits to and from the dealer to get something else fixed.....

Im buying a proper VAG car next time round....

i think every LCR owner will agree that at no point in the time that they owned/did own their motor it was trouble free...

i have had turbo pipes blow off,
a bolt from the turbo come off,
faulty MAF, bearings, punctures
rattles... creaks....
the list goes on...:cry:

but at the end of the day, this is the best motor i have had...bar none...still makes me smile when i turn the key, still look back at it parked up too...

i am not earning huge bucks, but the money i spend on my car cheers me up, cos i am a hugely entusiastic about my car and the scene...:)

btw how can you say its not fast?....you do know the right pedal is the accelerator....:whistle::lol:

Both LC and R have been fantastic and have both been back to dealers to have fixed them common little faults, but nothing major. IMO I have always seen the LCR about as good as owning a VW or Audi, just cheaper and I dont care what anyone says, looks wise the LCR comes up top marks for me. In London you don't see that many about but you do see alot of Golfs and Audi A3's and when I am driving the LCR about it does turn heads simply because they are not so common.

Anyway, I will deffo be stepping into a Leon again but not the MK1, now I own a basic 1.6 Golf Auto I think I am gonna start saving for a DSG Leon Cupra.

I think thats my fault fella...thread hijack I think - so sorry about that.

I think the difference is that I expect a new car to be relatively faultless for at least a couple of years and mine isnt. Seems though that this is the norm and people still love the car for it...which I dont quite understand. I personally think the car is nice, was a nice idea but isnt quite the full monty and a little bit of extra put into to it...it would be awesome.

Im off now to try and work out what my latest wheel noise problem actually is :D
 
I agree to some point that the build quality is not A1.

I've just bought an '04 leon Cupra R form a member off here I believe. Cupra Cai.

I owned a few quick cars over the years and have to be honest that I love this car to bits. I've had it just over a week and I get Smiles per Miles.

Yes the Cupra R may be rattly or a bit bumpy but remember it is a Hot Hatch. My last car was a Mondeo ST220. It was a lovely car and quick and the comfort was great. A real Motorway beast but it was just boring in the end. No exitement or fun. The Cupra R is more Raw and just wants to go all the time a case of point and squirt the loud pedal.

I also have to add that this Site is great for knowledge and learning new stuff. I hope in time that I will make some friends on here as I have done on other forums that I have been or still a member of.

Yep I locate that by looking for the hole thats worn in the quality SEAT Fitted matts in their that have lasted 25k and perished ;)
