LCR/LC Facelift - Front bumper height differences

Hey all,

currently have an LCR and its pretty well documented in numerous threads about the low clearance it has and the trouble with speed humps, steep junctions and multi-story carparks. Thing is, I may have to end up changing my LCR to something more cost efficient (due to circumstances unfortunately) maybe in the summer. I'd love to stay SEAT, and love the feeling/drive position/look etc of the Leon, so thought about getting a LC tdi.

However, was just wondering if I could get some opinions about the standard facelift bumper in the situations I mentioned above (at stock suspension height of course). I would like to not have to really think about my route so much and make it a bit more comfortable for the family but in the pictures that I have seen of the facelift, it seems almost the same height off the ground, or at least very similar? Maybe its just an optical illusion, so I thought I'd ask the people who know!

Would love to stay part of the seat family a bit longer :) so any comments would be appreciated.

PS. Are the LC tdi and LFR the same except in name? I know the FR+ has the R bodykit but the standard FR is just the same right as the LC tdi? Both have the PD150 engine - maybe theres more to it...

lc tdi has cupra kit 17 cupra wheels. leon fr+ is same as lc tdi but is jus badged differently (seat thing.afaik trim is same bumpers different on fr,chrome mirrors too on fr+ and lc tdi.but all are esentially as good as each other.i choose fr+ as i was told a lc tdi is fr+ anyway.there all pukka choices but fr+ much nicer in my opinion,,6 speed and high torque with re map.its a belter.had a vectra gsi ,205 mi-16 turbo ,and few others but leons torque and looks on type r owners faces off the lights is well worth the down grading to a diesel.. good luck in finding the car you want.my car is standard height but it scrapes everywhere u cant fit a closed fist under splitter.been through 3 splitters in 7 months gutted at 25 a go.fr bumpers are higher but dont have figures

Thanks welsh - but from the looks of your avatar you have an FR+ which has the R front bumper. I know how much that scrapes as I have the LCR. Wouldnt consider a FR+ as even though its more economical, I'd still have to be a bit too careful for my liking.

Basically wanting to find out about the facelift bumper and whether that scrapes.

I've got an FR with an LCR splitter on standard suspension and I never have any problems with it scuffing things. I can park with the front bumper up to a standard height kerb and it only just clears it, so I try to avoid parking up to kerbs just in case they are a bit high. But I've never had scraping in multi-storey car parks or at the bottom of steep hills etc.

The only thing I do try to avoid is the type of speed humps where they don't go the full width of the road (where your wheels just go either side of them), I usually try to straddle the two humps on either side down the middle of the road, but this is because I don't trust them not to hit the undertray on the TDI engine rather than the splitter.

I had the Facelift 04 Cupra TDi.

It was definitely not as low as my relative's LCR and I had no bother with it ever scuffing on anything and there's some pretty severe inclines here in Bradford as we're covered in hills.

I fit the LCR splitter and then the only place I ever scuffed it was up at the local Co-op car park, everywhere else was fine.

Ditto. I have just put on a fr bumper (not +) onto my 110 tdi and I have only scraped once (and that was a VERY steep hill out of a carpark down onto a very cambered road! It sits over kerbs in carparks with no problems at all. I am thinking of getting the LCR splitter too. When it was sat over one particular kerb in B&Q (which looked like a high kerb), it looks like there is still enough room for the splitter!

On a side note - Welsh; Have you ever heard of punctuation??

Guys, thanks for the info, I would have thought that it was the same, but maybe its just the pictures that I have seen here that have been a bit misleading. Good to hear about the lack of scraping though.

Been trying to ring local dealers to see if there are any facelifts (tdi or not) that I could give a test drive, but they seem to be a specialist breed near my neck of the woods!!!
