Had my nime box on for 2 years. All working fine with no abs faults

i went for the replacement fans in the end as i knew someone who was having loads of hassle with the nime (fault codes etc)

i still got my old fans, i kept them in case a resistor fix came out..... which has now

although they are taking up space in my shed to want shot of them now!

I dont think so,

my fans where changed because the resistor was burned too so they only turned high speed.

but when the engine is not hot or anything they dont turn at all. but now when its normal temperature the fans will turn in slow motion. i never heard them turn any harder now. except when turning the A/C on to the maximum

Im pretty sure that the fans should be turning slow if the air con is on. They will stop the car overheating.

Currently, as my slow speed doesnt work, whenever the air con is on, the high speed fans come on and off all the time. its really annoying.

well the fans come on because something is getting hot, not because the fans are faulty. :)

You'll want to check your coolant levels, make sure there's no air blockages, check your rad condition, and perhaps also your thermostat. If this wasn't opening properly, the car would obviously get hotter.

When I had my FMIC fitted, I noticed my fans coming on more often, as well as a few overheating issues. (Rad not getting as much airflow, sat in hot weather in traffic) However, this was cured with a new thermostat, so mine might well have been failing.

I know some people have also fitted a Neuspeed Thermostat - this operates at a lower temp, so opens the airflow to the rad earlier, meaning less issues.

I don't think you've got an FMIC - so probably not the case here - but I'd definately check out the above.

Incidentally - If I leave my 306 idling for more than about 4 minutes, my fans kick in too. They switch off as soon as I start moving again, and I've not got any overheating issues.

Yeah i've got a pro alloy fmic. The fans just don't seem to be kicking in early enough when it's hot out. It's literally only when sat in traffic on hot days that it overheats. An earlier opening thermostat can't hurt to try i suppose.

Also i still don't know why my car is going into limp mode when i have the aircon on, it did it again last night when i needed to demist the windscreen.

mate, do a search for some threads of mine. Sure I went through the same thing when my FMIC was fitted and had threads about it.

When you think about it - the Rad doesn't get anywhere near as much cool air flowing over it when in traffic - add to that a huge FMIC in front of it, it'll get even less.

As for limp mode with aircon on - I assume you know it's limp mode because of reduced boost on your gauge, right?

My 04 Lcr today began the fast pulsing of the cooling fans which i thought was connected to having my air con gas topped up the other day. I looked forward to getting home from work and looking on here to find a quick cheap solution. Oh how dissappointed i was when i started reading the threads that i searched for and found.
The anger increased as i started to come across prices etc. As i now have a headache would someone be so kind as to tell me if both fans need to be replaced or can you just replace the large fan as this is the one with the electrics in?

Also are the fans the same in the lcr as in say the audi a3 and golf mkIV and Bora?

:( :( :(

I too would like to know this. What size is each fan? I think I have found some relatively cheap genuine OEM fans on ebay that are for the audi A3/TT/golf mk4 etc.

I'm fed up with trying to get this Nime box rubbish working and would like to just get it done properly.

cheers :)

i have the nime box fitted and when i turn my air con on the fans spin no problem, and haven't had any other electrical issues so far,

However without the air con on i don't think the fans turn at all, can anyone shed some light on this? it seems that fitting the nime box to make the fans work has only made them work when i turn on the air con, is this right?
Any one else with nime boxes experience this?
