0-100 in 11 secs and 0-60 in 5.4 would indicate to me that in gear times are savage.

As for being slow round corners, ask Tiff Needell why he couldn't shake a yellow shopping car off round Castle Coombe in a Radical SR3. Tiff was probably less impressed to see him go past down the straights, Radical being quicker through the corners........I also recall a post by a seriously miffed M3 CSL owner :)

I don't suppose you've got a link to the post? What site was it on?

350bhp Evo Yes. A stnd 260bhp Evo in the dry around a track i would say no. I have seen a modded Rs turbo leave an Evo coming off a r-about onto a dual c. Theres no doubting the quality of a Evo in most states of tune/spec. But un-beatable they aint.

i didn't say they where unbeatable,my point was that a 350bhp evo which is fairly easy to achieve on a 5/6/7/8 would beat a standard ihi'd 1.8t round a track(and probably most street stuff) IMHO with the same driver of course. This in response to a previous posters question about buying a quicker car rather than ihi.

and just look at the furgure.

On the road price for a start, then the drivetrain, fwd vs 4wd.

Is the evo a born and bread race car though built 90% for performance. i know the ibiza it built for everyday use but has performance models.

The guy 's original post was about whether to ihi or not.I would sell and buy a evo 5+.

Maybe wants to be different...
EVO's are expected to be fast by anyone who see's em..

maybe a stealth approach?
:)

Been looking it was a mystery Red LCR that burnt of an M3, the owner came on to ask how powerfull they were (sounds like it had nitrous or something??). He had a link back to the BMW forums and the CSL driver said Bill Beezer must have has at least 400 to 450bhp

Well obviously.. a mere 300odd bhp could'nt possibly have been 'all' it had. LOL
Much like ~200bhp in a Jetta could'nt possibly ever has passed tuned Cossies @ Combe all those years ago...

Hehe
its all good fun

I appologise I have mis-quoted he said

Was it Yellow with dark windows ?

At Combe I was easily outdragged by one one these, this one was stripped out weighing about 1100kg and with 420 yes four hundred and twenty claimed bhp.

Engine life in the hundreds rather than thousands at that power

Blue one.
started life as 1.0E model poverty spec
now has REVO'd Golf motor in it.
soon to be back at home (hopefully)

940Kg and ~200bhp. Traction WILL be an issue. LOL

This sort of discusion always makes me laugh. You don't need huge amounts of power to do the seemingly impossible and beat cars much more powerful. Although i'm not the driver I am one of the builders of the little fiesta you can see in my avtar. It 's a little different now, but that doesn't matter. That fiesta is a normally aspirated 1.6 CVH pushing out about 175BHP. doesn't sound like a lot does it. Well all i will say is it won this years demon tweeks 750 motor club hot hatch championship against cars with over 100 bhp more than it. The likes of Ilsa and brian cox who i'm sure bill is aware ofwith there 40k plus 206gti's. Three ex class b peugeot 306 gti 6 touring cars. each with around 280-290 BHP. The point i'm trying to make is you need a good balance in the car and a damn fine driver.
Just for the hell of it here are our top times this year.
Brands Hatch Indy 55.38s
Cadwell Full 143.31s
Snetterton 120.7s
Donnington 122.68s
Lydden Hill 52.96s Wet
Mallory 53.28s
P.S Those times are on road tyres. A048's
We have since sold the Fiesta and are now the proud owners of an ex cupra championship leon which we will be running in Britcar. Anyone fancy 4 Hrs at Spa 4 a night race??????????
