LED number plate bulbs

Hi all,

Im want to get some LED bulbs for the number plate, ive got a HID kit fitted for the front and it just looks a bit weird with yellow number plate bulbs.

Ive heard you have to get 12V bulbs or they will kepp blowing, is this true? If so does anyone know where I could get them from?

Not sure if they ship to the UK but you can ask. There was also another place in europe selling them that does ship to the UK but can't find the link at the minute.

Good to hear cos I've got a pair of those sat around somewhere that I never bothered fitting as I thought they wouldn't last long (going by what I've read on here and elsewhere). They're going in!

Do you know which ones you got?, I've also had ones from him and they didn't last but all the ones I've had have been the festoon tube type. I got these ones for the boot from him then decided to get some more to try as number plate lights.
They have lasted far longer than all the others so far

I used these - really bright, bluey white and only 1W consumption.

Angle them towards your number plate or it will look like you have got neons under your rear bumper

Just a quick update - I ended up fitting mine in the end, looked great but checked them the other day - both dead. Annoying as those 42 Draft Designs ones are expensive. Tempted to try another pair of normal 12v jobs and see how it goes.

Mine have been in over a year buy them from that American seller, no problems.

The ones you use as sidelights in the headlights can get too hot and fail

The led lamps I have bought from Ultraleds are specifically designed to tolerate the heat and are safe up to 16v.

E-mail ultraleds and ask them - seem to be fairly knowledgeable.

I have these ones also. Been in for 2 years and still going strong. I agree about the "angle towards the number plate" these babies are bright
