Dear members,
I hope that after a year and a half and a lot of money someone can find the golden answer...
A while ago the head gasket of my 2008 Leon 2.0 tfsi BWA was replaced due to an external oil leak (head gasket was clearly visually torn. Mechanic thinks assembly error, because this block was fully overhauled 25k km ago). Now we have suddenly noticed that you hear a clear pprrrrrr when you press the gas at full throttle. Car was tuned around 250hp. In first and second gear you only heard it high in the revs and in sixth gear you already heard it around 2.5k revs with full gas. See the videos for the sound. Don't pay attention to the fierce pops with shifting. The battery was detached from the car for a very long time. Tune has been removed and now this has been fixed. Now the mapping is stock and you only hear the tap from +- 4k rpm full gas and if you accelerate hard in for example second gear from almost stationary (see video). We can conclude that less horsepower means less noice
The block had undergone an revision 25k km ago at the time of the head gasket, during which the crankshaft was pollised and new bearings were installed. So we also exclude bearings (no sounds in neutral). In the meantime, on the advice of various mechanics, the following was addressed:
-Turbo;
-New flywheel, clutch plates and release bearing;
-Cam follower;
-Engine flush;
-Camshes chain;
-Last diagnosis came out as predetonations (even though I don't have error codes and the car runs fine). So: new spark plugs and ignition coils have been installed (even though the old ones were fine, spark plugs had beautiful colour without oil on them).
Now my question to you is: what on earth do you think this could be? Before the head gasket, this sound was not yet present. The car accelerates just fine, there's nothing to say about that. You also don't notice anything about the car when the ticking starts. In addition, I've been driving around with this for a year and a half and nothing crazy has happened in the meantime.
