leon 6 speed box in ibiza?

Would it go in? my ibiza cupra R has 5 gears and leons have 6. Are they interchangable?
No faults with mine or anything, just wondering.
Did a search but i got nothing back.

Not with out a fair bit of work. Think you will need to fabricate new mounts.

Why do you want a six speed box?

It will fit as in bolt on etc but its quite abit bigger than the 5 speed and you would need t make room for it.

I would like to see how easy it would be to fit. I need something stronger than the 5sp without spending loads with SQS.

If it was a simple swap without any chopping i'd do it. that 6th gear has to add to motorway economy and i imagine it to be a stronger box than the 5 speed unit as this is fitted to the 225 engines. i appreciate the engines are the same but it's funny how the more expensive leon comes with a different box.

Has nothing to do with the cost of the car. Other vag cars that are more expensive have 5 speed boxes. Will do something or economy at motorway speeds but the top speeds are the same, just takes more changes to get there.

they can be made to fit, my mate has just finished putting a 6 speed dog box in his m2 and i know he had a bit of messing about!

my mate has the leon and the ratio's are not better. They are alot shorter so what would be the point. Good idea but i think its a no go. And as for fittin you would need to modify the chassis leg. Which would in turn weaken it. Unless you strengthened it at same time.

5spd suits 20vt very well imho

6spd is more changes and shorter gears.. stronger granted, much heavier too, and not a bolt in job

maybe consider an 02S box
