I had to take the daughter to work this morning.
My leon is awful in the conditions.
I managed to get home, a large head in a range rover was trying to overtake me!
Social distancing he wasn't!

I've never tried them, but am considering it. Tbf my fronts are getting due to be changed.

I never had any problems in snow when I had my Leon on 18" wheels. To be fair the only time we had loads of snow was just after I'd replaced the front tyres (but even then they weren't winter tyres).

Seriously?

Tyres make all the difference ( and a bit of ground clearance if it gets really bad ). Best normal-ish vehicle I used in the snow was my old 5 cylinder VW T4. Lots of weight over the driven wheels, torque enough to easily move off in second gear and relatively narrow decent commercial tyres (Klebers) on 17's.

You scoff at 4x4 drivers until this time of year.
The bloke following me this morning was so close that if I stopped he would have stopped once he hit me.

If I did not have winter tyres on my cars I would not be able to park my car out side my house in the snow with the ease I can as I live near the top off a steep hill even the dustbin wagon does not come anywhere near when the snow is on the road

Never liked any front drivers much in snow.

I had one low powered RWD car years ago which was absolutely awful 10 months of the year, but in winter snow in the HIghlands, the Hyundai Stellar MK1 was the nuts - like a rally Escort but without enough power to get into trouble.

The most fun I ever had commuting in 35 years.

I’ve had Leons in snowy weather and they weren’t too bad tbh. My R was fine but it would be really wouldn’t it? Problem with a lot of 4x4 driving spunk trumpets is that they think four wheel drive is a licence to drive like a plank! Four wheel drive gives you extra traction but your grip is limited by your tyres. If he’d braked, he’d be all over the place! As mentioned, winter tyres make a big difference but not worth it unless you live in an area where snow etc is a regular occurrence. Ideally, you need an extra set of wheels with winters on but cost then becomes an issue.

Last winter my Leon on winter tyres climbed a local hill that had defeated 3 4x4s (2 X5s & a Range Rover). They were on summer tyres?
Do NOT fit winter tyres to front only. You are likely to spin around on a bend as front grips but back let's go. Winter tyres give lateral grip as well as better traction & improved braking.

I have only ever fit them to the front and never had a issue with the rear wanting to over take the front
I can see your point but it still comes down to how you drive in the snow if like a said plank well yes I can see that happening but if you drive normal and for the road conditions you will be fine with just fronts

Winter tyres are not just for ice & snow but are an improvement in all conditions at low temperatures - typically below 7C.
Saying you will drive to the conditions is fine until something unexpected happens. Child running out from between parked cars - you want the best possible stopping ability & control of all 4 wheels.

Best thing I had was an old Peugeot Partner Van, diesel, skinny tyres and it would plug along in 1st gear with no throttle input, left the Chelsea tractors at the kerbside on their wide trendy tyres wheels spinning madly.

My last house was at the bottom of a narrow hill & surrounded by 6-foot high Cotswold stone walls. One snowy winter's day a Posche SUV fitted with large wheels & wide (summer) tyres had no control descending the hill & demolished part of our boundary wall. The driver thought he had got away with it as there seemed to be little damage to his Posche - until the wall collapsed onto the bonnet.
