After some help - my Leon is 3 years old next month. I want to try and get an extended warranty. So far I've found the following (after a few searches):

Warranty Works (Approx £354)
Warranty Direct (Approx £476/£343)
Warranty Wise (£194)
RAC (?? How do you get a quote)

(All different cover levels above)

Has anyone took one of these out recently, how much was it, and more importantly have you been able to claim on it?

Basically I want the usual cover (and for the suspect items like the fans, water pump, aircon etc).

Anyone?

Thanks

Seat will extend it for 199 I think, it doesn't cover loads of the electrinics though (coilpacks?) only stuff like starter motor + alternator covered + some mechanicals. I phoned SEAT to ask a few years ago for my last Cupra and wasn't very impressed by what would be covered. Basically all the stuff you have trouble with are not covered.

Ha nice to know im not the only one finding it hard looking to extend my warranty with Seat.

I also have to the end of this month before my car is 3 years old and warranty runs out, and with my electric window dieing on me just still in warranty I thought I mite extend my warranty... But it’s not as easy as I thought as I asked my local Seat dealer in Swindon and they said they do not offer extended warranty and to Phone Seat UK.

So I sent an e-mail and was told that chippenham is the closest dealer that will extend my warranty.... but need to find out what they will cover as I have herd that extended warranty is not same cover as the cars 3 year warranty it came with???

Hummm not sure but will give them a bell soon and post later.

Go to a good dealership and ask for one, they should be around £200-250 per year and they will give you a leaflet containing what will be covered. It won't be a comprehensive as the manufacturers warranty but the majority of major parts are covered.

When my warranty ran out a dealer quoted £299 to extend. I took out Warranty Direct for a year at a cost of about £275, and I had one claim, value about £80 (coolant temp sensor), dealt with efficiently.

Now have 3 years warranty from Warranty Works at a cost of about £430 - haven't had to claim yet, so can't judge whether or not it's "pants".

I took out a 12month extended warranty on my LCR with Warranty Administration Services Limited through Camberly Seat at a cost of £420 which on the face of it seems expensive, but so far I've had my cooling fans changed with no quibbles and its going in today for a temperature sensor problem which they assure me is also covered. The cooling fans alone would have cost me £440. In my eyes its money well spent, These cars maybe cheap to buy but cost a packet when they go wrong.

Parts covered include, Braking system, Catalytic converters and casings, Clutch, Electrical system, Engine, Engine cooling system, Filters fluids and lubricants if required to be replaced during a repair that is covered, Final drive, Fuel system, Heating and factory fitted air conditioning system, Steering system, Suspension, Transmission, Wheel bearings and hubs.

Hope this helps Clay

dont know how many people know this but main dealers get 60% discount on parts so why are extended warrantys so expensive. it would have to be something major for them to loose out. so a £440 set of fans would only cost them about £210 so realy they could cover everything and still be quids in. greedy b******s.

Sounds a little bitter and twisted to me, There is always a mark up on everything you purchase in this life, thats the way of the world we all need to make a living. Kevin and Paul at Camberley Seat have been great. I've got no problem paying the market rate for sevices.

My LCR went back in yesterday and had the coolant temp sensor replaced f.o.c. under the warranty that they sold me.

To my mind thats a great deal:)

Well I've spoke to RAC now. They will do their 5 star policy for 2 years @ £21.62 a month (int free). It has a single claim limit of £3k, no limit on the number of claims, £50 excess, dealer rates to £42.30 per hr covered and excludes sat nav + catalyst claims.

I'm yet to see any policy particulars so dont know the full detail (there's also a 14 day cooling off if it's no good).

This potentially sounds quite good, but depends on what exactly it does and does not cover...

Hi mate,

Who did you go with in the end for your extended warranty? My 3 years are up next week so I'm trying to decide which warranty to go with. So far, quotes I've had (for a LC):

Camberley Service Centre (using 3rd part warranty): £380 (or £700 for 2 years);
Warranty Direct £340 (and £280 if I use a non-main dealer);
or maybe RAC.

I've been considering this too, but mine's over 3 years now. I'm tempted with RAC

Went with RAC in the end as per post above.

Basically £21.62 a month over 2 years for 2 year warranty. Its the Prestige Cover Mechanical Breakdown. Warranty Direct was prob 2nd choice, just a bit expensive.

I think it's cheaper if you setup the policy before the car's 3 years old.

It has a £50 excess - Im not too fussed about small things going wrong like brake switches, horns etc, I just wanted to cover the expensive things, like the fans etc..

SEAT dealer did mention they were trying to agree to extended warranties with Mondial, but I dont know if that got anywhere.
