If you could swap a Leon FR/Cupra ( Petrol FR ) for a Golf GTI Edition 30 and you didn't have to pay any extra, what would you do? I mean, how would you weigh up the conclusion. Same mileage and year, as well. I know the Leon comes with more as standard, but yeah, you know. Just a quick question, really.

I'd keep the Leon.. Prefer the looks of the Leon and they're less common! Far to many Golfs on the road nowadays, at least the Leon stands out a bit more! :)

if its same year and mileage and you don't need to pay extra I'd get ED30, sell it and buy Leon back and have some spare cash to accessorize it ;-)

I'd swap to get DSG and nicer interior

x 2

Compared to the Cupra, the Ed30 has inferior brakes, but DSG does make it faster ;)

The thing is though that there is a difference in value between them all. A Cupra is superior to an FR mechanically and this is reflected in its value. While the Ed30 is broadly similar to the Cupra spec wise, the Golf will always be worth more due to the badge and interior.

ED30 DSG for me too.....err.....wait a minute

I already have one:D

I have driven an FR tfsi, and a Cupra and it would be the DSG that did it for me over looks, rarity and style.:)

Thanks for the opinions so far guys. It's good to see a good response. I love the look of the Leon, but I just know that re-sale value on the Ed30 will be superior, plus ride quality is slightly better.

Ed30 without a doubt! From my experience the build quality of Volkswagens far surpasses that of a Seat!

I had a look at a ED30 Golf before buying my Cupra K1. I like unusual cars and the K1 certainally is unusual, whereas the ED30 just looks like a Golf from most angels and it just didn't do it for me.

I've never owned a Golf and don't plan too, as I think they're one of the most boring cars on the roads. Appeciate that the cars are well built and resale value is higher on them, but I hate driving common cars. The ED30 isn't common, but it looks like any other Golf too most people.

I'd rather drive something different and have fun with the car, rather than worring about a grand or so resale value (to an extent) and what other people like.

My 2 cents worth...

Edition 30 for me too, rare cars and like others have said it will hold its value better!

The strange thing is that the Leon is holding it's value very well and values are on the up as demand has increased. % wise very close to the golf and a Leon 1.9/2.0 TDi is number 7 in the top 10 slowest depreciators at 56% beating the Golf!! My MK1 Leon Cupra is still the car I lost the least on from new, and a Mercedes C Class the worst.

Cupra all the way. I know the ED30 is obviously Limited but its still a golf, A reps car that is alway over priced!

Why pay more for the same engine and a fewer accessories, Cupra and use the extra cash to mod or save for something else useful.
