More obtrusive than the Alpine? :O The Alpine button is huugge! But fair point about the N95, sucks that it wouldn't work.

Thanks for the advice mr davies, I guess like you said, it's just a case of going into a shop and seeing what suits me best.

Thanks again guys

Oh, i didn't realise he was looking at that model. I'm not being funny but if you get that one you will spend the rest of its life wishing you had the one i've got.

For the extra cash you get more power, the red display and a colour screen, plus a few other extras that i can't remember.

Do it!

Hah, so true!

What's the model you have then daboy? I've just had a quick look on the previous pages but couldn't see any model numbers, unless I'm going blind!

just enjoyed reading through this thread and was good.

I have a quickie question on HU type.
Does anybody know of a cheap good one that has a HDD built in , so then i can copy all to it and play them.
more for ease and then i can have a useable glovebox...

oldman, I think a lot of the ones we've been talking about in the past couple of pages (Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine) have a USB socket on the rear, where you can plug your hard drive into...

Its the Alpine iDA X100, you will not regret it, i've got an 8GB memory stick plugged into the usb in my glove box and it gives me about 90 CDs worth of music.

That looks awesome, cheers daboy - think I may well go for it. I can so see me killing myself whilst fiddling driving along though, so many nice features :D

Tell you what, I may go for the X200 - it's the same but without the LCD screen, and the LCD screen is the one thing I wasn't too sure about on the X100, awesome. \o/

Edit: Neither of them have bluetooth built in, booo!

I just got myself a nokia n78 wich has a built in FM tramsmiter. So now i have have sat nav and music on the move. Great option if you dont want the hassle of getting an ipod connector. All my music is played through the head unit with no problems at all and the head unit even displays nokia when connected.

Sounds great with the original head unit.

 it's a vicious world out there mate ;)

Hah, yup LEE69 - I never thought I'd get so confused over buying a bloody car head unit!

Cheers leeuk123 - that is very tempting, but I'm guessing playing around with the stereo is legal, whereas going through tracks on the phone isn't - not a problem for most people, but I work at a police HQ so see police cars around and about all the time :D :(

No probs, but don't say i didn't warn you when you're kicking yourself for not having that lovely colour screen. ;)

I wouldn't try to change albums while driving, but it's so easy to use you can do it at traffic lights or junctions without causing a pile up. :D

Colour screen does look quite nice I guess but I dunno :) Just went into Sextons and think I'm going to go with the DEH-P700BT if I'm honest - it looked the best, and the guy who worked there had a Cupra recently and highly recommended it (he seemed very nice/genuine too) so, umm, yeah :)

Only decision now is that it was £300 fitted in there (plus extra for the couple of parts I'd need for the aerial and fascia?) or whether to be a cheapskate and order it for £200 online and try and bodge it together myself ;o

the 700 took me about 1hr to fit.

I could do it in about 15 mins now i know how the aura comes out :(

the hardest bit is feeding the microphone bit from the hu section, to the footwell, i ended up pushing a cable up from the foot well with my hand in the HU socket and took no time that way!

DIY mate!
