sorry to be a pain here lads but let me see if i got this right... my standard cd changer will not work with any other head unit other than those expensive ones mentioned a few pages back and there is no way i can plug my ipod into the standard unit either... is that right or wrong .....god im so crap with technology:confused:

nearly right, you can plug an ipod into your standard head unit with an adapter made by dension, but they cost around £100 i think! you'd be better off getting a new or second hand unit with ipod link built in for that price!

I've just modded my standard Aura stereo with a cassette adaptor so that the wire comes out of the back. Works well, sounds good and looks pretty neat too.

The tape adaptor? Got it in Maplins for about a fiver... cheaper than the 'ipod' ones in Halfrauds. Easy enough to fit, the top just pulls off of the stereo once you've got it out of the dash.

I have taken my headunit out of my old car which is an alpine ida-x100

I wandered if the leon needs an aerial adapter?

By the way this is the best alpine unit i have ever had, it has full ipod/usb/changer/bluetooth connection and i would recomend it to everyone, used to work with my astra steering wheel controls too, shame the leon doesnt have any.

The alpines iso fits straight to the Leons loom anyway, the only thing you really need is the fascia adapter as the din hole is bigger than the stereo.

make sure you get the 1 piece fascia; not just the 2 sides - the 1 piece works better imo.

Ah ok my mistake then. well i have bought the 1 piece fascia now anyway. thanks for the info on cutting the kline wire :p every vag car with an aftermarket stereo always has a fault in radio when im going through diagnostics :p now i know why :D

ive a couple of questions about the standard stereo/cd-changer you get in a cupra r. im getting my car tomorrow and cat wait but im pretty disapointed in the stereo, especially with i not playing mp3`s. can the changer manage to play cd-r`s, cd+r`s etc? and are there many after market players that can connect to the cd-changer easily?

Hey guys, i have the MFD Sat Nav unit in mine, looking at a replacement is pretty expensive... i Love the Kenwood 5220 unit as it has the sat nav, blue tooth and DVD and you can plug the ipod in direct. However it has a £5-600 price tag.

So im looking at this one http://www.ioplay.co.uk/ the demo is really impressive and Halfords will fit it for free at £150 all in... Works with iphone and and mp3 play all via bluetooth and you dont have to get rid of your changer. All that shows is a parrot looking module on the dash... however i dont know where i would put it??? any ideas from those already using it?

Cheers

Whilst i'm here, can anyone help? I took my battery out to change the glow plug loom and i have to put in the code for the stereo. At the moment it just say SAFE across the display and nothing happens when i press the PROG button like the manual says. Anybody know how to input the code so I have stereo again? Getting bored of the mrs's voice now whilst driving! LOL!

looks good; but you won't have full control of your phone / ipod from the headunit like you do with the kenwood 522 - but i am biased having the flip out version of the 522 :)

Press the SCAN button rather than the PROG button.
