Look what I have found. Its the technical data sheet for wheels and tyres that dealers use for fitments..thought I would post it up as it might be of use to somebody.

Thanks for this, but it looks a little out of date - the largest width is a 205 on a 16". Will be useful for the older cars though I'm sure.

Think you need to look over it again. Check out the Upstep section:

Largest tyres for either the 16x7 or 17x7 standard wheels (on Cupra) are 225/45

Looks like Cupra Rs (18x7.5?) is the same too.

Oddly enough it looks like if you want the widest tyres you need to go for either

17x7.5, 17x8 or 17x8.5

I looked at the top bit which has the 110KW diesel on 195/65 15s not the 225/45 17s they came with and no Cupra R listed.

Guess the upstep bit is more interesting.
