I don't think the actual starting point of the weight is that listed by SEAT Ben..
KevH had his weighed a short while ago when setting up his corner weights.. and stripped as it is was 1120Kg! :(

Hmmm. My understanding was that the 1119Kg was the weight with half full fluids (Washer, fuel) and a single average sized occupant? So the raw dry weight (Almost zero fluids and no occupants) should be quite a bit lower.

I'll get mine weighed before I start the weightloss program.

Cheers

5 kg from the subframe ??

blimey get the grinder out - probably put 10kg back in to strengthen it

how about lighter panels ? anyone ever lifted a tailgate before ;)

Flapper, theres a 5Kg block on the subframe. Its not there for strength its there to act as a vibration damper.

Ben

The site says they still produce it. What for, for cars I suppose so I don't see why you can't have it. Even if you managed to buy it, you going to fit it yourself?

The car in progress is a customer car too

I'll go with KevH's actual weight of his car over SEAT claimed figures any day.

they bought the kit from daventry bodyshop, who took it off the fabled 'f2 road car' that was in maxy p.

they then took the moulds from it & made the kit on teh site.

ben - it'd fit your car no problem. all you'd need is a mk2 front end & bonnet. (or they could cut the wings to fit a mk3 easily enough)

My car was 3/4 tank and half washer bottle pretty sure that was without me in it as well. Ben if you can then get over to see Roger at Northampton motorsport, he's got a really nice set up for corner weighting and if you're after sus alignment as well he's your man. He has notes from all the cars he's done so will be able to tell you a few weights that he's already seen from Ibiza's. Don't worry, I'll be getting the cutting tools out when I have some spare time, and will be butchering the car to save some more weight!

u could do with loosing a few pounds too you fat b*stard

(tongue firmly wedged in cheek :p )

Cheers Rob, I'll have a look at those batteries.

I will also be interested in some of those panels too. I don't want to compromise strength in a crash too much though.

I really really want some wide wings (Front and rear) so that I can run fat wheels..... you can source these too? Got an ETA on that?

Ben

Full on F2 Evo2 spec front and rear wings are available, I think 3 inches wider per side, in plastic though not steel as per originals and they will take a beating - ETA will be sometime over the cold times to come

Ben

didnt think it was that heavy - there for balance

but heres a few pounds you can lose

tailgate
elec winders
seats
sound deadening
aircon SYSTEM complete inc interior parts
replace glass with perspex
spare wheel

for starters

then get the drill out on the rest of the dead metal - drilled 35 aluminium slats last week with 90 holes in each just save a few lbs if its non stress DRILL IT :p

just finished drilling the door lock mechansim casing - looks like swiss cheese in ere

3 inches! I only wanted an extra 20mm or so!

Keep me up to date with the progress though as I could still be interested.

Cheers

I'm gonna see if I can get mine weighed locally.

EDIT: Just phoned a local company (Motorvation motorsport - There was an SCN RR day there a while ago). They will corner weigh the car for 1 hours labour = £49. Is that a fair price?

Its not gonna break the bank, but I'd of thought its a 5 minute job.... just drive onto the scales, take a reading, drive off?
