Hey everyone! :D

Got my missus wanting a Arosa she's found a 2002 Arosa 1.0 MPi in pistachio green for sale so I'm going to veiw it tomorrow, I'm taking my VAG Com to run a fault scan on it but are there any common faults or known rust spots I need to look for?

It had the EGR Valve changed a few months ago so thats one problem out of the way.

Any advice would be great!

Thank You

Rust spots are around the windscreen, rear arches, roof gutters and around the filler cap - but the bodyshells are galvanized so they are pretty resistant to rust. The only Arosa I've seen with major rust was the green donor I bought, and that was a shed (it was registered the day before mine, but mine has no rust anywhere!)

Have a good look at the pedal box if you can, they are a weak design that can break, so check for any signs of welds splitting.

Cambelt change was moved from 60k/6 years to 40k/4 years so make sure that has been done either way.

Other than that the 1.0 engine is pretty bullet proof, so shouldn't give you many problems :)

Petrol cars have an EGR valve and diesels have a DPFE valve. I would be very dubious about the seller saying that it has been changed because they very often dont go wrong on a petrol car. Definately run a HPi check prior to viewing, do take your VAGcom, if it stalls DO NOT accept any excuses as this is often a costly and time consuming problem to resolve.

Thanks a lot girls! :funk:

Pedal box is the same as the Mk2 Ibiza's then..... made of chocolate! My next question was going to be about when the cam belt was due for a change, I thought 60k (usual time) now it's 40k, says its got FSH we have to see now then :)

You shouldn't have any problems with 2002 car and 50000 miles. Why do the female members here like the lairy colours? Bernie.

There's a slight wining from the rear passenger wheel..... hoping it's just tighten the wheel bearing, will look at that in between fitting the suspension on the ibiza.

I like the colour myself..... it's like a faded version of my colour, not looking forward to parking outside the house next to it. It's like a his and her Seat's now

Now now Bernie (covers her cars ears) are you saying my car is a lairy colour ??!!

Dont worry about it looking like his and hers Seats :D I live on VAGstreet ! Gets worse when Edd parks his van up.

Noise at the back should only be something simple like a wheel bearing.

Are you sure its not the passengers whining? Even if the bearing is shot its cheap & easy to change yourself. You'll have to expect to change bearings, brakes, exhaust now and again after 6yrs on the road. Bernie.

Don't wanna make a pointless thread, so will ask in here!

When you open the passenger door, should the interior light come on..... like in every other car lol. Wondering because the the light wont come on when I open the passenger door.... wanna check before I start looking into sorting it

Yes, the light should come on. I have the same problem on my car but on the drivers side but it does come on when I turn off the ignition so would assume its the door switch which looks hard to get at.
