I've got a 99 t reg cupra 2.0 8v, was just standard and ive put a set of 17 OZ wheels on it and got a custom made stainless exhaust with decat pipe on just now, only thing is i seem to not have the power i used to, i dont know if this is because of the exhaust but i can't see it causing a problem, it's not leaking and the bends aren't too tight, it has the same o2/oxygen/lamda sensor. It now tops out at 110mph and used to get to 125mph and feels as if it has half the power it had before in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear, it doesn't missfire and runs as sweet as a sowing machine. Anybody had a problem with power after fitting a new exhaust?

Could be loss of back pressure threw using a de-cat pipe. do you have access to vag com? Ive read somwhere that the 02 sensor has to be further away or somthing, i could be totally wrong on that part tho.

David.

The wheels would explain the top end loss would they not?

i've got pleanty of low down grunt but struggling for the mid/top end it had before even though 8v's dont have much, its got none now

bigger wheels should decrease top speed. They tend to make it quicker having a larger rolling radius and all that, or that could be because it just makes your speedo read quicker because its out.

A power loss like that can usually be appointed to a silly big spoiler like what I have ha ha.

lol bollocks, i thought it was sorted when i thought the o2 sensor was after the cat but it turns out its before the cat, problem not solved :( maybe it's my imagination? i had the snap on machine plugged into it today but couldn't see anything amiss, does backpressure really affect a 4 stroke "that" much?, i know it does on a two stroke. thinking along the VAF sensor right now, anyone got one spare i could try then send back to them? lol
