Loud turbo/induction noise?

Hi all I have had my 03 LCR for a week now and love it! However, it has been mapped by revo and previous owner did n249 delete, custom centre section exhaust and smoother airbox with a green cotton filter...my question is: I am getting a VERY loud induction/turbo noise i don't think I am loosing boost as the car pulls like a train but it sounds like an air leak? Very loud hissing...has anyone experienced this? Is it normal due to the mods?

Has it worsened at all or has it always been the same since you've had it?

If its no diffenent dont mess with it, like they say 'If it aint broke dont fix it!'

Do you have a boost guage to keep an eye on boost levels?
Try an get it scanned with vagcom to check there are no faults.

True! I will leave it alone although I do have some 4mm tubing to replace the n249 delete stuff...don't have a boost gauge but do have a liquid gauge which gives every reading you need and allows you to change MAF settings etc it even has a fault code reader which is handy

I forgot to mention that my airbox has been smoothed and drilled would that cause the air sound?

A drilled box will give it a bit if a induction roar can hear the turbo alot more then the sealed box

you sure you TIP is securely on your turbo??

Not sure it is no but the car boosts fine and the loud air noise is only on half throttle, when you actually floor it the noise gets deeper and sounds more like an induction kit...if the TIP was loose surely I would know but the lack of power?

It coz of the drilled box makes it sound abit like it's got a induction kit but not as loud

Ah ok...think I will buy a new airbox then to quieten it down a bit

Replaced the airbox and sound has gone...the airbox had around 100 holes in it!

My cupra does this, turbo sounds like it could suck a golf ball through a hose pipe. I have a standard box and filter saying that though? I think I'm going to do the opposite to you and drill my box because I just love the dump noise of the DV. Louder the better I say lol
