Well I've not bothered taxing, MOT'ing or insuring the car for a bit, since I've been working in Glasgow since the end of October. However now the Clio is up there I want this going..

So I've changed the ignition barrel today, ripped the nearside mirror off by accident & left a pair of 11's in my garage where I was turning the car around

Brake pads on order, bit of filler over the hole in the sill & I'll MOT it.

Just waking my neighbours up with the socially unacceptable decatted exhaust was ace :)

Pain, then pleasure, the joys of motoring never end.

How much do you think you'll get for it?

Quick update - I was going to change the rear pads this weekend since the weather was a little better

The downside is that I spotted a snapped spring on the offside rear, so I will have to change that before I put it in for MOT.

On the plus side, a years insurance on a modified classic limited to 3000 miles is sub £130 :)

MOT prep looms now the summer is coming (and a ring trip I hope)

Coilovers bought, should be here to fit next weekend for some belly scraping.

I gave it a quick wash earlier this weekend to clear the dust off, and had a quick check the wiring work I need to do to tidy.

Looking forward to getting back on the road!

Right, well it's been up in the air over the weekend while I attempt to remove the original suspension. I don't think many of the bolts have ever been touched as I broke all the paint on them.

This is why I took it off, the coil was snapped & very corroded

Chassis mount, all looks good

How the car is left right now (floor is tidier now!)

Still up in the air, but on maximum droop it's not too bad

I have managed to break loose one of the captive nuts on the NSR wishbone, so not quite sure how I'll get that apart yet. However, I've WD40'd and loosened all the nuts that caused me problems on the front to save the pain next weekend.

Other little things are a new set of plates, 12x6" all round, and the front will be mounted on an offset mount.

And I'm looking at a cage now.

mork it may be worth venturing on to the WIM forum to see if tony can give you some pointers for what the new geo should be for the cars suspension etc once you have the lowering kit on.
he has loads of experiance with the mx5's ;)

It's pretty awkward undoing the top mount nuts from the inside of the boot that are totally corroded over (I think that the battery had spilled over them at some point)

Sitting along side the car is not a problem for working on it though, plenty of space, though I will swap ends to do the fronts to get the daylight.

I had to remove the top nut with a cold chisel as it just wound so far up & stopped. Predictably I have a well bruised hand now!

You're right, I will need to get some more revised alignment figures - but I think that WIM is going to be too far to go to get it.

I have a camber gauge here, so just need to get the tracking set nicely.

im not saying go to WIM, but if you ask tony nicely he may share a good geo spec with you

Wow, that was a bugger of a job. All the better for soaking the rest of the nuts for a week

O/S/R needs to come off again, but that will be easy now.

Car is now the other way around so I can do the fronts tomorrow :D
